I removed my throttle cables and lubed them. When I put the throttle cables back on, the handlebar grip was even tighter then when I started. And actually the grip stayed where ever I left it. It did not even rotate back slowly.
motorsports 020_edit.jpg - pic shows how I routed the cables. I had originally had them going around the frame neck, but I brought them straight down and over as a means to eliminate a cable kink as the culprit.
motorsports 022_edit.jpg - this pic shows how I currently have the cables setup. In this configuration, the handlebar grip snaps back properly. But as you can see I had to put both nuts on the back side; eliminating any adjustment. If I move the nut to the right side of the carburator linkage mounting bracket, I have to pull the cable really really hard towards the front of the bike to get the cable to clear that bracket and slide into it's proper position in the bracket. I actually had to use a 8mm to pull the cable forward hard enough to get into position. I am pretty sure pulling that hard to get the cable into position put the entire cable under tension.
motorsports 022_edit.jpg - this pic shows the linkage near the handlebar grip. The cable towards the front screws into the kill switch. I screwed it in all the way. Could it be that it need to be backed out some? There is also another adjustment with a long skinny nut on that same cable near the grip at the transition point between the curved chrome part and the black cabel sheath part. Can someone tell me what the long skinny nut adjusts and which direction does what?
Like I said, right now it works (functions) but it is not quite correct. The know the inner cable is not too short. It seems like the I need the outer sheath part to be 'slid' back towards the carb. Any words of wisdom out there?
Thanks
Jeff
