Jona,
Get that license and get riding!
In case you don't know, side panels break somewhat easily and new ones are harder to come by that your registration. Use as much support as possible around the pegs like a finger on each side of the peg etc and gently pull straight outward. I start with the bottom one first. Lubricate the rubber inserts before reinstalling. If the rubber has stiffened replace them! They are still available from Honda.
Replacing a fuse box is fine if you need to. If your's is the 5 slot box (3 hot with 2 spares) it is not available from Honda. Very difficult to find a NOS one. As long as the fuse contacts are clean, tight and do not wiggle due to looseness from overheating then why fix something that isn't broken? You might loosen the connector and check the blades for corrosion, clean, and reinstall with dielectric grease. The dielectric grease will keep some of that salt air from creating further corrosion issues which create resistance across the connections which reduce the effective voltage in your system. This procedure is a very good maintenance issue to perform on your entire wiring harness. The electrical systems are a weak point after a few years.
