Rear Tire Swap 350/400

I'm assmbling parts for a rebuild on a 400f.

      just an FYI the vf500 works nicely on 350 twins too,....so does the rear tire, it almost a bolt on swap.

I am interested in what needs to be different, to use a Vf rear end?

I actually sent an email to cafebob with the same question, then thought about posting here.  It's early and I haven't had my wake up drink.

well on the 350 twins, the axle fits perfect.  You will need to make a very thin spacer, (I used a washer).  The big mod is if you want to use the rear disk. (which you need to do to get the spacing right) The caliper slides on a rail mounted on the inside of the right arm.  I just welded a piece of steel stock and it worked great.

So this is a 1965 350 twin with  VF500 front end and rear tire.  Disks all the way around.

It doesn't look like you have much clearance between the wheel and swingarm. 

Did you use stock length shocks?

I did manage to land a complete triple tree on ebay the other day. There are quite a few vfr parts there.

I will look for some wheels come payday.

its tighter than stock, but should be fine...I have a pretty big tire on the rim right now.  Just get a whole damm vf500.  I can get non running ones around her for 150-200 dollars...so much cheaper...
