77-78F tail light position
« on: November 27, 2007, 07:52:37 AM »
There seems to be a difference in the tailight position on the 77-78 750Fs.  Seems like a UK-NA thing.  Why?

My 78F is like the second pic.

All the North American F2-3s I've seen look like this first pic. A quick google search of UK bikes (the next 4) show the dropped taillight and rear set signals.

Looks like Honda had to re-engineer the rear in order to accommodate your gigantic license plate  ;) (Wild guess)

what's with that super long rear fender behind the license plate? mine only goes to the bottom of the plate. could mine be aftermarket?

also, my front fender isn't stock. the PO replaced it with another but i can't seem to find any info on it.

Could be that your rear fender has been cut.  All three of my 750Fs have that long fender to keep road gook off the back of rider and passenger.

These Honda's were made to run cross country where weather is unpredictable.

I know the F1 is different to the F2 in light possition and it could be that the F1 is higher---ce la vie.

Europe had some pretty strict laws in the 70s regarding mudguards on new motorcycles. If you look at NA bikes vs UK bikes you will see that bikes that don't even have a mudguard here (like the kawi h2) had a super long mudguard over there. All 70's euro bikes have that long stupid mudguard.

As for the dropped light, it looks factory but ti could have easily have been an accessory. I have never seen a UK f2/f3 in person but it would not surprise me if there were more than a few differences.
