WOW what a nice surprise
« on: November 30, 2007, 04:02:30 PM »
I was going to a Honda dealer today about 65 miles away and passing thru a small town. Glanced at a store front and there is an old red and cream Honda 49cc moped in the front window!!! :o Of coarse I make a U turn and go back. There closed but in the other window I see 8/9 bicycles "Whenzer's"<sp?> 3 are mopeds and look almost brand new. 8) I'm drooling :-X I look towards the back and there's 7/8 red Honda's (all different I believe) with the number 98 and 98c plackard<sp?> over the headlights. The first was a sohc twin and the rest were so close together I couldn't see what they were. There in the isle is a cl/scrambler, that looks almost complete, but needing some TLC. :P :P I was ready to break a window to get a better look!!! :-\ It's a cafe/coffee shop and from what I can tell there's a mc club too. There was a name of the club but I spaced that part out. But I got a phone number and an email address so they will be hearing from me. I already sent an email!!

Sounds like it's worth a 65 mile return visit.

Ok, so I don't know how to spell. The guy answered my email already Their Whizzer motorbikes I was told by the owner and they are 1946 thru 1950. The Scrambler is a 1964 cl72 = 250cc. The one in the window is a freshly rebuilt P50. He said he's rebuilding a 1963 c200 (90cc)now. The twin I refered to is a 1963 cl72 motor in a special built flat tracker frame made in 1962. He said he still does some flat track racing. He also said there are 25 retired guys in there club and go on weekly rides on Tuesdays in good weather. I'm going to take him up on the invite to drop by and see what else he has to say and see if I can aquire anything good, if just a fellow biker and some more bike info, that will be good enough. But another project bike would be great ::)
