Turn Signals
« on: July 25, 2005, 07:06:44 AM »
Good lord, i have probably the most basic question ever asked here......sorry this is new to me, working on bikes so i dont know, anyways i have a 78 750K, and when i flip the turn signal on either direction, the light comes on but does not blink. Im figuring it must be a fuse i need to replace....right? Where is the fuse box, and can i just go down to the local bike shop, tell them what year/model bike i have and they should be able to get me a fuse for it?. Any help thank you.

mate if the light comes on, then you are getting power, so you can discount the fuse... sounds like the flashers unit... are all you blinkers working, the flasher unit requires a certain amount of current b4 it will turn the blinkers on and off... if you have a globe blown on one side, or the other, then the flasher unit isnt getting the current it needs, so wont turn the blinkers on and off... check all your blinkers are working, and if they are check you flasher unit.... it wont be the fuse if you have lights on...peace
you are never to old, to act like a kid... be safe
funny thing, chasing someone down hill on a bike 30 years older than theirs..

Could be bad connections (ie corroded) so maybe a good cleaning is in order, or it could be the flasher relay itself, which is easily replaced. On my early 750 I used one I picked up at the auto parts store (make sure it's 12v) and on mine it is located under the left side cover.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

yes, both blinkers are working (or at least the light comes on both of them), so it sounds like its the flasher unit. Thanks guys.

check the earth return of the flasher unit a lot do not have a wire and use the case of the flasher unit to the frame favourite spot for a bit of corrosion around the mounting screws\bolts
