10.11 dollars a gallon
« on: December 01, 2007, 09:10:26 AM »
 :o :o :o

Just thought I'd let you know (if you didn't already) that petrol is officially over 10 dollars a gallon.

Just filled up my car and it was 112.8 pence a litre. If I did my sums right that is about 10.11 dollars gallon.

Didn't work out the diesel cost but I noticed at the pump that it is 119.3 pence per litre.

How much of the cost is in the form of taxes?

Yikes :o  gas is $1.07Cdn/litre here, which is .52GBP.  The June07 table shows Norway as the most expensive on the planet at that time. Note Venezuela at around 4 cents Cdn/USD per litre, about 2 pence/L, if my math is correct.

It would be nice if they put the TAX% info on the pumps, right?   Then think about how everything in the supermarket, the mall, the car dealership, Home Depot, and every other store is trucked in, and think again about effective tax rates.

They actually do put tax info on the pumps in Canada, at least in some places.  They want you to know it's the Government who's taking all your money, not the uber-rich oil executives and OPEC.

Turns out that the nationwide average is only $0.47 per gallon on gasoline, and that has actually DECREASED since 2002.  I guess the high prices ARE just the uber-rich oil executives and OPEC gouging us, not the US Government.

I dunno Sam :D  It would take a special eye to note that.
Just checked  and see that reg. petrol in Havana is $3.03 US gallon which would be about the same as the USA.

Suppose your right Sam. I chose to live here. I'm not really complaining about the price of Petrol except the last hike was a steep one.
Of course we don't have Tesco here. nor any supermarket petrol. Don't mind that either cos we've got a few good old fashioned garages here. Some even still have pump attendants!  :o
