Bum Deal Bill, hope its not that exspensive.
...had to chime in here cause you mentioned Hamilton Field. I drive by there twice a day, they've built a bunch of homes on the old base, stores and what not. That Hwy between there and Vallejo is Hwy 37, thats got a cement barrier down the center now, all the way across to Vallejo... too many head-ons. What year were racin' here in Nor Cal?

Hey Cyclone, I was stationed at Hamilton from Dec. 69' - Aug. 70'   ,
when I was Honorably Discharged from the USAF. Really liked the base and the way it was laid out. I always thought it was a tretty cool looking place, not really like an Air Base at all until you came over a hill and saw the hangers and the Flight Line. We had F106 Delta Darts back then and I was crew chief on one with the tail number of 063. I enjoyed my time out there, had some relatives in several parts of L.A. and an Aunt and Uncle in San Jose (used to visit my Aunt & Uncle on the weekend once in a while). Spent the last 6 1/2 - 7 months on Alert Duty at the end of the runway. Worked 24hrs on duty  and 48hrs off duty Left the area on Aug 18th of 1970, when my time was up! Thanks for the info on the area. To Me, it's kind of a shame to turn old bases into other things. They have closed Blytheville AFB in Arkansas and Fort Chaffee was turned over to the Army National Guard, with a portion of the land being turned over to different agencies and some of it being redeveloped also. I could write a whole extended thread on that subject! >:( Anyway, takes again for your response Cyclone. ;)

Glad to see Cyclone on here, lolol. Hey Bill, I had to chime in as well on Hamilton. I spent many an hour working at the United States Coast Guard National Strike Force, Pacific Strike Team Headquarters Stationed on Hamilton, in Hangars 1 and 2. If you saw the news about the spill in the Bay and saw any of the Coast Guard personnel giving updates on T.V., one was my Bro, Petty Oficer William Stewart, great guy, and he taught me a lotwhile I was there. I stood Officer of the Deck duties to relieve the stationed personnel of the extra duty. Being an Auxiliarist, I made myself as useful as I could to let them get back to the work they had to do anyway. OOD duty was in addition to thier regular duties.

Anyway, enough about me, you know how I like to talk too much, lol.

Keep safe and sane and I'll talk to you later.

Well all, It seems hat I'm going to have to pay the $180. :-\ But the thing is, because of my good driving record, I don't have to do the "Probation Thing", I WON"T go on my record, as soon as they receive my check, It Will Be Over! It'll be as if it never happened (except for the lack of 180 bucks in my checking account!)! Knowing MY luck, if I'd have been on probation, I'd have gotten another one! ::) Anyway, thought I'd let you all, that posted here, know what happened.

Good news Bill. The insurance company would have surcharged you every year until the $180 would seem like chump change.

Yeah, they TELL you it won't be on your record........right up to the time when you get another conviction within 12 months, and all of a sudden you've got "2 convictions last 12" as they say.  It's not over for over a year and then some.  Drive safe.

Isn't it kind of wierd how we all worry so much about getting a ticket now. Seems to me it was a bit easier when you could just outfun the cops and take a sideroad/dirtroad, pull into someones' garage, close the doors and wait it out for a little while.  :o

Not that I would ever do anything like that.
peace,
michel

I have done in a pursuit a few times, in a small town myself! ;D

My Dad has told me about times that he'd work on a bike (one setup for offroading, with straight pipes), take it out for a run, get the attention of the law, haul back to the shop, park it and deny everything when the cop would get to the shop! ;D ::) No telling how many times he did that to them! Also, now and then, a couple of guys would get into a "Discussion" about whose bike was fastest and, next thing ya know, they'd line up out front of the shop, my Grandfather would set them off on a drag race and the race was on!
I remember some of those races! 8) ;)

My cousin tried denying that he was just out ripping up the road, but the cop asked him why the bike was making that "tick-tick-tick" sound that some bikes make when cooling down.....he got a ticket anyway.  :D

Maybe they might call that progress,"a cop being able to notice things like the sounds of metal cooling down". ::)

The times that I managed to elude them, was in a car though. Once, I was on the outskirts of a small town (while on my way to my Dad's) I picked up speed, before the signs indicated I could do so, and a cop passed me (going the other way) and the next thing I knew, the chase was on! ;D ::) My Parents lived in a small community beside a lake. I just zipped in their real quick, pulled up on the other side of the house, got out and was inside the house watching, as the cop drove past (my car was out of sight)! ;D ;D ;D
The roads were pretty twisty in that area and poorly lit. Also my 84' Plymouth Turismo 2.2 was a pretty decent handler. ;)

+1  ;D ;D  I didn't think it was legal to even reference those after 1990.  Imagine Plymouth executives at the meeting to approve this production master piece...

Exec 1:  I hear the kids love that Delorean.  Maybe we should make something like that, only more domesticated.  Gull-wing doors are for foreigners.

Exec 2:  We'd never be able to get their level of performance or dependablility and sell it for a reasonable price.

Exec 1:  Yeh.  We can cut back on the performance, dependability, and design costs by letting the designers play with stuff already on the shelves.  Just piece it together to kinda look sorta, in a way, from the right angle, like an import.

Exec 2:  Sounds great.  This one can't miss...

You guys are a riot, a real riot! ::) ;D There were a few folks, driving GM products, that didn't think it was too funny when they couldn't pass me on the freeway. ::) :D
