Calling all Florida SOHC4 riders (others welcome as well)
« on: December 01, 2007, 05:13:25 PM »
Another group that I ride with Classic Owner's Motorcycle Association (C.O.M.A.)
Is having a Picnic at Ft Desoto beach in ST Petersburg Florida. The Date will be sunday january 13th.

They have all kinds of vintage Iron: Norton's, Trumph's, BMW's, Henderson's and of course Honda's and almost no Harley's.
In order to belong your bike should be at least 30 years old.
Anyone is welcome at the picnic and as long as we know ahead of time so we can get a meal for you. ($5.00)
I would like to see a good showing of SOHC4's, this is a realy cool event if yoiu are into older Classic motorcycles.
This would be a good excuse for us florida riders to get together and Compare bikes and stories.

http://www.thisoldtractor.com/coma/breakfast_ride.html

Either post in this thread or PM me if you are interested.

We could all hook up ahead of time and have a group ride if anyone is interested.
let me know and I see if I can find a cheap local hotel and get a deal on rooms.

Crap!
That would be the day I have to be at a B day party for my wifes 95 year old Grandmother just up North in New Port Richie.
It would have been nice to meet a few other members down your way. Headed to Orlando for the rest of the week on the 15th.

P.S. 6 inches of snow here today on the west coast of Canada :P

Peterbylt,

Any idea what time this is going to be yet? I am in Palm Harbor, just North of Clearwater. I have to work on Sundays. I have to be at work by 3:15, if the timing is right I may be able to make this. I could of course plan to be sick on this day ;)

Peter,

Sounds good, let me know when you find out. I'd love to see some old bikes and get my 76 CB550K out for a nice Sunday ride. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

I should be able to come over from Orlando....being retired helps.  ;D  Maybe I can persuade a friend to ride with me and then we can bring over both the K0's. Would be nice to have a secure place to store the bikes on Saturday night.

Sounds like a great meet! The last time the bike was in that area was in 1970...in Tampa. Also, the only time I dropped it... on a wet street there...fortunately no harm done.  ::)

PM me as plans evolve.

This certainly sounds like a good excuse for a ride (do we really need one though?) Siter81, what color is your 750F? I bought a brand new yellow one in 76, I wish I still had it! I'm just North of you in Palm Harbor.

It is an awfully painted black.I bought it from a guy in orlando back in august. It runs but needs small odds and ends.Wrong tank, aftermarket sidecovers,ETC
It is second in line for restoration as my beemer is front ln line for redo now.

I've e-mailed Pete and the Guzzi guys as they are supposed to be there too...no answer so far. I note that the COMA site still doesn't show details. I hope the meet is still on.

(Peter... yes... I think the picnic will be Jan 27.
Will send something out soon.
Pete)

I am with Siter81 and I say lets do an SOHC4 ride. We could still meet out at Ft Desoto or if you want, how about Skyway Jacks for Breakfast on Rt 19 right near the Bayway at 9 am?

I'm in. I am coming over on Saturday from Orlando and staying with a friend in Tierra Verde which is near the park. So, where is this eatery on 19 .I assume near the bridge. Post some directions and I will program them in the Zumo. Sounds like fun. Maybe you bay area guys can drag in some more that were going to the COMA event.

First time I've ridden the sandcast this far from O'town. Should be interesting.  :P God....9am. Is the sun up that early...remember I'm retired?  ;D  ;D

Techy5025, Jim,

I hope they get I 4 open before you come over saturday.
Otherwise its going to be a long slow ride.
Maybe head north and take RT 50 or south and take RT 60?
