« on: December 21, 2007, 12:13:05 PM »
Hello to whoever reads this... I have been reading through this forum for some time now to learn as much as possible about the '78 CB750F that I had my eye on before purchasing it. Thanks to all of you I was [rightly] confident in my purchase and have had few, if any, surprises thus far. I am sure that with all of your help and previous knowledge that I will have this thing running and looking awesome!

Cheers,
-Nick

Wecome Nick,

I got my 75 750F in Minneapolis several years ago.
I used to visit Bob's Java Hut--heard of it?

Wow, What a greeting! Thanks everyone. I am located in/around Stillwater and work in Fridley (and will hopefully be moving closer soon). I have, in fact, heard of Bobs Java Hut, but have never been.

As for the pictures... well, there isn't much to show in the first pictures taken of this bike, and there is even less to show now as I just got back from bringing it down to the frame (minus the front end, which comes within the next day or so hopefully)... but here are a few for starters:

ummmmm...what is the best way to upload pictures on this site? I did a search to find out how to put up pics and the method didn't work. I have a few on my gallery page, but it seems like there is some better way to do it...

So until I figure out (or someone guides me) on how to put up my pics within the post (I have the gallery figured out okay), no pictures.... I hope I am better at working on this bike than I am at figuring out how to put up pics!

Okay, I think I am figuring this out now:

Early winter pickup:

Day #1 at the toybox. Right after unloading it I wasted no time getting off the tank, seat and carbs.

My buddies '71 Kawa H1500 and my '78 CB750F. We are working on them side-by-side with similar visions (but I can tell he is jealous.)

Day two at the ranch; getting pretty bare:

The end of my second evening spent on it; down to the forks and frame.

So that is where I am for the time being. I was going to go out today and get the front end off, but we had a pretty wicked layer of ice fall last night and I darn near got stuck in my own driveway... better to let MNDOT clear the roads before I go out again.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Hahaha, the DeLorean belongs (like most other things in the 'storage facility') to my father, who has so graciously allowed me to work on and harbor several projects over the years. Between the two of us we have four collector cars... so when I use the term "toybox," I am not kidding!

Heya Nick,

I'm about to embark on my own 78 750F project and your updates will be inspriational.  I got her all together and running last spring after I bought her out of a snowy backyard, and managed to put 2500 miles in.

I think these F's are great bikes, and once cleaned up can sure look great.

Best of luck with your build
