There was a V-Twin motor built using some Royal Enfield parts and I found it quite interesting. Don't know if it's still being developed or not though. It's called the Carberry-Enfield V-Twin.

If and when I find out anything, you'll know! ;) I DID have a fellow over on the Enfield forums say that he saw a picture somewhere, with the motor in a bike. But he can't remember where. ::)  Sounds like something I'd say! ::) ;D

                                Later on, Bill :) ;)

Sam. ;)

Here's some pictures from the link that Sam posted. A 1000cc V-8 Super Bike! Thanks for the link Sam. ;)

Somehow Paul Carberry, who is responsible for the V-twin Enfield engine, is tied to the Drysdale link. The info on the V-8 bike, is dated 99'. I'm going to see if I can get something from this guy, since I never got a response from Carberry. Wish I could get some pictures of that V-8 engine. I guess I'm never satisfied. ::)

Thanks for the interest in my little V8’s, between the all comments, it has summed my situation up pretty well. I have another 2 x 1000 Sports bikes almost finished, plus an engine for a US customer. I will build maybe 4 or 5 more, including a Cruiser / Bruiser for myself. I have had 2 Chinese companies ask me if they could put my V8’s into production but I have politely declined so far. Apologies for my website, it has been sadly neglected for quite a while. And Dodgy, you were late to work as it was, should you be reading websites at work as well, what would your boss say about you going to work direct from a bar at 9am in the morning ?? Cheers IAN DR.

Hey droopy. Thanks for that! ;) Pretty cool to hear from someone like that. 8) Hope he updates his website, so we can see what he's up to as far as his bikes and those motors go. I totally understand his reluctance to do any kind of deal with the Chinese and I wish he could get substantial backing and be able to develope those motors, bikes and whatever he wished (there's a car on his website, that's powered by a Honda Blackbird motor 8)). ;) Thanks again droopy!

Very very cool. Kind of looks like a Vincent motor in an offhand sort of way.

I've sat on one of Ian Drysdale's V8 bikes, he's an Aussie "Gyro Gearloose" and has come up with some incredible designs over the years, The V8's were based on Yamaha FZR400 engines from memory, they used the FZR top ends with Ian's own cranks and cases. Mike Rieck had one in his shop for awhile, that belonged to one of his mates in the US. Pretty cool! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

          >:( I'm jealous, not really. ;D I'll bet it would be Awesome to ride one! I knew he was an Aussie, don't know why I didn't pop a message to you about it. Should have known that you'd have something to say about it (even though I wouldn't have known that you'd seen one up close). Need to get Mike in here to get his input on it. I'd like to know what it would sound like and how it handled? Thanks for putting your input in here Terry.

Now, if I could just get some kind of input on that V-Twin Enfield that Paul Carberry built and if there was going to be any future developement of that motor.

I contacted Mr Drysdale a couple of years ago through one of the Yahoo motorcycle groups.
The prices mentioned for complete V-8 bikes were around $35,000 US.
Its actually not too expensive for a hand built special (considering an OCC 'Kit bike' costs about $70,000)
The 2.6litre V-8 Hayabusa engine costs about $33,000 to import from Britain, its de-rated to 220BHP!!! cant find link at present
(everything is well out of my price range, but I do like engines  ;D)

Pffft, V8 bikes are so passe, if it's not a V12, then it's nothing! Here's a link to Alan Millyard in England, he is my engine building hero, he built a little V twin Honda when he was still a kid at school, then moved onto Kawasaki triples, turning them into 4,5 and even 7 cylinder bikes, then a V8 Z1, followed by this beauty, the V12, brilliant!  ;D

That's right Bob, he built a 7 cylinder Kawasaki engine at the Stafford bike show in England a few years ago, and apart from TIG welding, he did it all on site with tools most guys have in their garages, he really is a legend! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Ah come on mate, give it a go! Why not take the hack saw to your K0 and turn it into a V4? And if it doesn't work out, I could use a K0 seat, and some sidecovers......................  ;D

Yeah, my riding mower's got a V-8 motor! ;D ::) Not!!!!!! I've seen some articles on those multicylinder Kawasakis and they are definitely a sight! I DO like the look of that Kawa 1300! 8)
BTW, If anyone's interested, I'm still looking for any more info on the Enfield V-Twin.

I got an interesting email today. :o Paul Carberry got back to me about the email I sent, inquiring about his work on the V-Twin motor. He says that he is almost ready to go into production. 8) He's having some computer issues or he would send a photo. He went on to tell me where to find more on the subject and I'm going to check it out now. ;)

Maybe this will pacify things until I can find more on the subject. ;)

I feel like I'm bouncing off of a concrete wall! Paul Carberry told me to check the web for info on his motor and the Allen Cathcart had written plenty about it. I must not be putting in the needed info because I'm not turning anything up. Anybody have any suggestions? I'm listening. :)
