cb650z electrical issues. JUST the headlight works...
« on: September 16, 2021, 02:03:17 AM »
Hi there, i bought the bike running in good order. It has stood for a while since then, done some work but havent really touched the electric stuff. Maybe moved some things a bit around because i installed a new seat but i have been pretty coutious not to disconnect or pinch anything.

Anyway i have connected the battery again and now only the headlight comes on... nothing else. Blinkers dont work, speedo doesnt get power. Ive checked the 30amp fuse and the 4 glass fuses but they all are ok. Brakelight is disconnected at the moment so not sure if that would work.

Anyone an idea what that could be?

thanks, Eduard

Disconnect the 30A fuse, odds are good you’re going to find it is blown/broken.
Otherwise start checking your voltages from ignition switch and branching out from there…

The old strip-type fuses like the main 30a one will corrode and crumble eventually. It might look fine and show continuity on a multimeter, but can easily give up the ghost when you're trying to crank the motor. There's no harm in replacing a $2 fuse.

Additionally, clean all ground connections til they're shiny.
