Maine roadtrip advice
« on: July 31, 2005, 08:37:45 PM »
I've got a two week road trip to Maine from Washington DC coming up the first week of August.  Any must see motorcycle sites along the way?  I'm not riding (bummer), but I am the driver so I get to choose the route.  Historic and scenic sites are also welcome, not to mention good eats and drink.....

You could stop by and pick me up on the way and I'll be your guide!

Try to get to Acadia Nat'l Park, Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mtn. From the top of the mtn you get to see the sunrise first in the continental U.S. .. if you're up for an early morning ride.  ;)

depending on how fare up into Maine your going, Hartland NB is about a 30 min drive from Houlton.  Gives you a chance to rumble across  the Longest covered bridge in the world.

Hmmm, Maine in August. Bring bug spray. And snow tires. While you're riding up 95th Street from DC to Maine, stop in here in Boston. There's a few of us sohc'rs that'll gladly buy you a beverage of your choice.
If you do get as far as Bar Harbor, plan on taking the car ferry over to Nova Scotia and drive around there for a day or two.
Later,

Why not visit some of the islands up the coast.
