I guess I'm missing something, you did say you just finished it right. Isn't the 750 suppose to have carbs, or is it a really tricked out 750. :o :o

I would like to see the adjustable Tomassellis .....me tooo, but the client was on some what of a budget.  We may go with some Yamaha r6 rearsets, or the tomassellies. It was also getting late in the season and my guy wanted to get some time on it before the snow came.  The project was really a pain because I received the bike in pieces, as the client had disassembled her and realized it was too big of a job...I have done a lot of restorations, but this was my full tear down and rebuild cafe.

I had another client this summer bring me a picture of Carpy's "Tornado" bike and just said build me this....then handed me a thick envelope of cash...that one went to its home today.  I'm not a big fan of replicas, but I need to pay the bills.  I'll post the pictures tomorrow.

Maybe tomorrow if i go over to the shop ill take pictures of my current project.  Its a cb750 with cast aluminum swing arm that doubles as the oil tank.  It has seen alot of time under the knife.  I am building the motor for it now (just got my megacycle cam today!)...should be on the dyno some time in December....i'm keeping this one.

Looks nice and light, especially without carbs! Does the oil tank hold a similar amount of lubricant to the stock tank?

Are the lowers and ears powdercoated or sprayed? I like the gaiter choice too!

Keep 'em coming,
Ben

Good question.

Also, you might want to re-aim that headlight unless he's looking for birds in the trees when he drives.   ;D ;D

Seriously, good looking bike. I love the shorty fender and the blacked out rims.

I like it! The black front end is very nice although I would have painted the chrome headlight ring myself. Like the front fender - where is that from? Very nice! Keep the pics coming! Your own project with oil in the swingarm sounds interesting!

cheers
Andy

Might be a silly question, what goes in the space for the old oil tank? Or was it given up to weigh less?

Bob,

Where in Denver? I'm headed to Steele's sometime tomorrow from the Springs. Any info available about the dyno you use? There's a number of us that get together occasionally. We need to include you also.

Im right in downtown, Curtis park area.  Ah Steele's....you know that place was recently sold to a Brit.....rumor has it they are shipping containers of bikes over to the island/Europe....i wounder what will become of the place.  IMO they over charge for everything there...plus alot of their bikes have be outside for way to long, and have been picked pretty clean.  I use boulder bike works, located ironically in longmont, they are ok on price, have a better attitude in general....but thats me.  I have more traditional "biker" friends that seem to make out well at steele's...maybe i need to get more tattoo's...

Oh to answer some more questions about this bike...the oil tank holds about 200ml's more than stock.

All the electronics and battery were somehow fit into that tail.

The forks are powder coated and lowered 1 inch, but i hear the owner is going to re-raise them.

As for the open space....i just like the striped down, barley enough there to run the bike look...to goal here was to keep the bike opened up as much a possible. I absolutely HATE side covers on 750's...and most bikes in general....although the other bike i just finished has them...but the client wanted it that way, and i couldn't talk him out of them :)

The front fender is a motor cross fender...the client had it and it was given to me in one of his part boxes...it removed about 5 inches of of it.

I painted and then machined down the fins on the motor...this was a real pain...and one know a better way?

WOW that is cool! I normally do not like cafes cause to me so many look pieced together. That is awesome. Of course carbs are needed but the oil tank is great and the bike is so clean looking in its lines! It is even more amazing with how you hid all the electrics!  :o

Very clean looking! I wonder how much lighter it'll be than stock. Amazing how cool these bikes still look. Two thumbs up!

Very very nice!  Black rear shocks might look nice on it to match the black front suspension.

While I've never painted a cylinder block, you might get away with painting and then simply sanding the edges of the fins to expose the aluminum again, although I'm not sure how clean a paint edge you'd get with that approach.

I don't have a mill, but can't fathom how you would machine down the fins around all those corners.  If I were machining the fins, I'd go all-in and get some hard straight edges on them to be a little different.

My uncle's old 1975 or so CB750 seemed to have a cylinder block that was completely devoid of all fins.  Not sure what it was all about - it was 30+ years ago and I was 6.
