Did I miss the steal of the century???
« on: July 25, 2005, 06:33:04 PM »
This was on e-bay - sold for $1650 US (about)

#4563218672 (sorry, don't know how to do that blue link thingy!)

I looked at it several times..thought the milage was high and couldn't figure out how to get it from Jacksonville Florida to Denver without spending $1700 (hahaha).

Did I miss out on my "DREAM BIKE" ???

I've shipped with Eagle One Express. They do a fantastic job to your door for around $700.

Can't look this up coz of the network police but assume it's a CBX?? (Guess based on Linda's interest)

There were three on eBay UK last week - all very nice and very expensive.

Yes it was a CBX and someone got it for a real steal price.  I was scared off by the milage, but I did approach Dear Hubby and all I got was a roll of the eyes!  (he doesn't ride, so he just doesn't get it!)

Soooooo, I'll just have to slobber over the pretty photos and hope I get another chance at one, with less milage.

Linda ::)

that bike has one cam and two cylinders more than you need, anyway.

Looks pretty worked over but I wouldn't be too worried about 36,000 miles.  A bike in that shape needs to be looked over thuroughly before buying.  The price was right but I still wouldn't buy it without inspecting it myself first.  Lots of jerks around selling junk and expecting you to pay when you bid and win.  Even if you find lots more problems when you see it for the first time up close.

True, but it doesn't hurt to have them.... ;D

That is beautiful ,Harry.
But that brings up the question: if it`s not being ridden then is it still a motorcycle or just a piece of art to look at. ???

Besides the smoothness of more cylinders, what is the advantage of 6 over 4? And dont say power. It seems like a lot more work. How many carbs does that thing have? It must wiegh 600 lbs.

and no I have never ridden one of those bulldozers.  Is it moare of a cruiser?

Well it is a different model now called the rune. But I have seen the original and it sounds amazing. I think people where afraid of it. It was a BIG bike in overall size. If I could, I would get one.

I'd put that in my living room too; after every ride though.  boy that is nice.    Looks like this practically brand new 85' V-Max I saw the other day with Nitrous :)

Shoot!!! Bob-I missed it!  IN BROOMFIELD- I'm gonna CRY!!!

There I was, sipping tropical drinks on the beach in Maui...and this beauty comes on the market!  The resort we were at had a COMPLETE  technical meltdown - NO INTERNET for over 10 days!!!

The price did get up there!  The buyer may have been in New Zealand!  Imagine!

Anyway, thanks for looking out for me guys...someday my prince will come - and he'll be on one of these!!!

Hey Linda PLEASE dont get one of these CBX bikes unless you plan on keeping the 550 to ride. The CBX needs loads of TLC to keep it on top form plus lots of time and expensive bits at service-- like a $100 rocker gasket with $15 rubbers under every one of those hold down bolts for the cover and the gasket only usualy does twice even though its rubber!!
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Brian, quite frankly, I don't think I can even SIT on one of these - my legs are short and this looks like a tall bike!

I was thinking about using it as a conversation piece in the entry of my home - shined up and pretty-kind of like me (LOL) and then again, it would make a great Paperweight!

I just want one to drool over and pet - kind of like a pet!
