Cylinder studs for a Cb400f... where can i find some?
« on: December 09, 2007, 09:15:44 PM »
I've looked around... But cannot seem to find these anywhere. Anyone know where to get some new cylinder studs for my 400 build?

Cheers from Portland,

APE will probably make you whatever you want, but if you need to ask the price you can't afford them.

www.davidsilverspares.co.uk: I did not see them at dss when I checked there, it was the first place I looked.
www.westernhillshonda.net : Didn't look here I will try that next.
www.cmsnl.com : checked here too, and did not see them either.

Am I looking in the wrong section?

About the ebay ones... I still have the ones that I took out. I was just assuming it would be best to replace them once you have taken them out, due to strectching etc.

HMMM...

You think could I reuse my old ones with no worry about leakage upon reassembly? I am installing a 450 kit with hotter cam etc. But nothing too dramatic.

Opinions?

when checking with David Silver his website doesn't list all stock, download his 'Stock File' an Excel file or text file then check the part numbers required, I would guess that CMSNL is the same.

You've already taken them out? Out of curiosity, how?

I've not had a problem with them stretching on my 460, though my old 475 motor did have a nasty habit of pulling them out of the crankcases, that engine was very high compression and did tend to get super-hot. It did go super-fast too, but made up for it in workshop time.

tacoma screw carries cylinder studs that i have considered using for my build (grade 8.8-- made specifically for that use), but i'm a little nervous experimenting. the 650 already has much larger studs than the 550 or 750, so i'm not worried too about it. wonder if anyone has a qualified opinion in regards to him using those?

They want minimal runs. I don't know if he wants 50 sets.
