Any chance for some pic(s) of spikeys bike (I know I should be able to find some somewhere but just to keep the thread full of pics ;))
and maybe a couple more of Jonbouys one?

i was going to put up some new pics of my ride with the new additions (homemade gauge faces, and some other details)
and i'm haveing some technical issues with my camera and the computer at work, so i will put them later today.
thanks for all the nom's  when i was building the bike i was sure that "most" of the members here would hate it.
because it's just a total oxymoron.... actually i was debating on naming it oxymoron.

I love it. It's just so unique. And the little touches, like the Exhaust hanger (and the new gage faces) just set it off that much more.

well i took a bunch of shots of the bike and they didnt turn out that great, it was  overcast, snow, windy as hell, oh yeah and it was 34 degees at 7 o'clock this morning when i was in my driveway takeing pictures ..

so here are the ones that turned out so so. i wanted to wait until i did all my little changes to post any pics (wasn't expecting to get nominated right off)

the gauges , i added a set of chrome covers ,they look so clean

we got this new drill press at my work with a fancy multi-angle vise and an arm that sprays lube where your drilling, sooo...

this weekend i will try to get some pics at like noon-ish (better light, not as cold ;))
to get the full effect.

i forgot to mention , to anyone who was following my "dished tank" thread.
i scraped that idea , it was just more work than it was worth, and i just couldn't justify changing my frame. i've got plans for a posible tank in the future (are our bikes ever really done ::))

spike... i've held my tongue for too long.  the bike is amazing but, what's up w/ the seat.  its the one part of the look that doesn't do it for me.  is it the bobber look that you're after w/ the seat?  maybe try an old harley/tractor style w/ springs.  ooooh, better yet!  a saddle!   ;D

ooooh, better yet!  a saddle!   ;D
that better be a joke  ::)

this question is raised quite often and i always avoid answering it. because the answer is as complex as it is simple. so here go's

complex answer: when i started this build almost ten years ago i had no idea what a cafe was, i had never seen a customized jap bike that wasn't a chopper.  i did know that wasn't what i wanted ,... i wanted something unique and totally differant then every other cookie cutter bike i had seen ....also back then my fab skills were nowhere near what they are now, also i didnt have the internet (or this site) as a resource, i had the junkyard, swap meets, jc whitney, dennis kirk, and auto parts stores.
and every seat i looked at sucked , or wouldn't fit . that seat is me takeing lemons and makeing lemonade (or at least trying)

the simple answer: when your fabbing something that has never been done before , sometimes you hit , sometimes you miss

i am not completely satisfied with the seat as of now , i have been going in other directions hopeing to have some sort of seat apiphiney(sp?) and come back to it , i know it looks a little off, but basicly that is the look i wanted.  i hate the way bump seats look and bobber seats don't follow the the lines of the bike , it will come to me . i think i may just knuckle down and buy a cycle-x solo seat they are the closest i've seen , and the least expencive.  oh yeah another reason is, i dont want to drop cash on a seat to find out it doesn't look right on the bike,  anyone got a solo seat i can borrow for mock up photos  ;D
