New clamps in the works...
« on: December 10, 2007, 04:35:20 PM »
for my fork to mount my new headlight bracket on.  I am cleaning this bonded plexi pattern together which I will centrifugally cast in aluminum, clean to a final finish, make a rubber mold of (and subsequent wax copies) and then cast the final product.  After casting, I'll toss them in the lathe for an accurate 35mm ID, drill and tap a hole for the bolt, and then cut the slot that will allow it to clamp shut.

Wish I had a picture of the headlight bracket itself.

How thick are they?

Not really understanding why they are not made of billet, no real huge waste of metal or removal time savings..

Ah hah, billet is a great idea......But I am currently out of reach of a mill, so casting with a quick lathe job will be my answer.  laying on the table they have a height of 1/2 inch.  ;)

Looks like a cool project. If possible, please post photos of the casting process...I'd love to see the whole project as it comes together.

If you really feel like going old school, you could mill the whole thing on the lathe. ;)
