Ummmmm .. HI!
« on: December 22, 2007, 09:23:41 PM »
Hey guys/girls. My name is Tyson I'm 21 and I live in southern WI. I have my Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement and I have been trying to get a job as a Police Officer. It isn't going too well so I am going back for my Bachelors this January. I love cars and anything mechanical (I am pretty mechanically inclined). I really enjoy driving and working on my Bimmer but as of lately I have found something more fun than driving...RIDING!

I took my MSF class in late October and passed at the top of my class.  :D

I bought my first bike(CB750K8, ~20k miles. Pretty clean. $700) very early in November and put over 600 miles on it in about two weeks before we got our first snowfall. I havn't been on my 750 since  :-[

Anyways I have been lurking as a guest for a while and now I need your help so I made an account.

A few things my bike desperatly needs.
Mufflers..converting to 4-2
chain/sprockets..converting to 530 and a ratio that will make HWY riding less "hurried"
Handlebars..bent..thinking about lower/shorter bars
Brake lever on handlebar..I think it was highsided. (right side)
OEM front blinkers that actually blink when you want them to.
And the most challenging I guess..HG replace for oil leak..or o-ring

My "scoot" (I love learning new nickname, term, verbage) has what seems to be the ever so common oil leak coming from what looks like the HG. It leaks out near the #2 exhaust port.

^I will save this for a thread in the right subtopic area type thingy.

As of now my bike is all taken apart(pulling the engine was a..umm..interesting) I have the top end of my engine taken apart and I think I have found the source of the leak but that is where all of you come in. You need to tell me to either stop and replace the o-rings or dig a little deeper to tackle the HG.

Look for my thread please!

Hah anyways I just wanted to say hi.

-Tyson

Welcome Tyson!

Chain, etc. check out z1enterprises.com  They have new JT sprockets and o-ring chains for our bikes.  Also, Jeff is a member here and is always getting in new parts for our bikes.

How come you're getting rid of the 4-4?  Rust?  Personally, if you're staying stock, I'd keep w/ the 4-4.  Otherwise, MAC makes a decent 4-2 setup, check ebay for them, around $300.

I've got a set of stock 750 bars if your want them (I'm in Northern IL, about 2 hrs south), may also have a lever or two.

The blinkers can be a number of things.  A low battery will cause them not to blink, and then start to blink as you speed up.  Also, your flasher relay could be bad.  Or, it could be the contacts.  What I'd recommend is clean up the contacts first, then try the relay.

And head gaskets can be had at either z1 or partsnmore.com  Usually Vesrah, which I think made some stock Honda gaskets.  Usually replace the o-rings, head gasket and base gasket as it has probably been disturbed when you removed the head.

Anyway, welcome again, and would like to invite you to meet a bunch of us in Pine Bluff this May for the Slimey Crud Run.  Website is here:  http://www.slimeycrudrun.com/

Hey thanks! I have a friend that is a serious honda freak(owns ~5 honda cycles and various others) who will probably supply me with both the handlebars and brake lever but thanks anyways.

The mufflers in my 4-4 are completely rusted out and LOUD. With my limited budget I am planning on buying two extra long reverse cone mufflers from jcwhitney to attach to my headers. However I am having trouble finding an adapter that will connect my headers to make a 4-2.

Thanks for the link for chains/sprockets. I will definitly look into it.

My blinkers...well lets just say I am going to save that headache for last.

Thanks for the help!

And seaweb11...haha I highly doubt you know nothing.  ;D

It may be 15 dollars....BUT LOOK AT THE SHIPPING!!! :o

There is no way I could afford 17 MORE dollars!  :D

Those pipes really aren't my style tho. I'm guessing those are yours? If so I hope good luck on the auction.

When it comes to pipe shape I will always choose the stock looking reverse cone shape.

Not mine, just did an eBay search is all...My 750 came w/o an exhaust, so I tried using a '78 F header and a NOS Dunstall can...wrong header for the can, so I tracked down a '76F header and it bolted right up.  But now I have a '78F header high temp powdercoated hanging on my garage wall....Maybe I'll make a coffee table out of it........

Welcome! I am from wisconsin as well. I am a student at UW Oshksoh. Glad to hear you did the MSF course, I did mine in early august. In fact, I think I got about 600 miles under my belt before winter as well.

As said before, you should go to the slimey crud run, I'm planning on going for the first time in the spring.
