UPDATED SPIKEYBIKE SEAT ...need opinions (good or bad)
« on: December 15, 2007, 05:00:30 PM »
ok so today i was looking at my seat and decided to shave it a little. i think it looks WAY better like this, but i dont know if i'm satisfied with it.

opinions would be nice

before

and after

so whats the verdict,  i like it but i'm floating back and forth

and as a side note if anyone recalls my homemade gauges thread, i fixed the speedo so now it has 110mph so all is well with that

The shape suits the bike mate, but you need to take it to a pro to get the cover looking right, at the moment it looks a little "un-professional". I like your gauge faces, did you make them? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The Solo seat concept looks right  ;)

Needs to be kicked up a notch - say with 3'' chrome springs and a "spikeybike" design/pattern/material of your choice to really compliment the rest of the bike. This Solo seat company does just about anything: http://www.harleyseats.com/Spring_Solos.htm

Looks good, spikeybike. Each time I see your bike I want to pet it  :D

Can't say I could make one that looked better. I don't know, maybe put large spikes in the metal around the rear of the seat so the girls who want a ride on your bike will have to press real close? Kiddin', but the rear area of the seat is the only place that might need some more inspiriation, in my opinion. Just kinda lumpy sittin' on top of all that great work ;) :)
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

I guess it's hard to say about the "before" pic 'cause there is just the one shot, but the "after" seat has good proportions...

And as a side note, I'm glad you fixed the dials... I've lost some sleep over it... ;)

i didn't think it would bother me that much ... i was wrong ;)

Did you make the seat pan that is on the bike now? You may be able to replace the seat foam that is on it for a "sportier" look. I like the sporty seats, and the older (plasic pan) can be heated up and reworked to fit many other bikes. The foam on it now looks too flat.
The wrinkles in the seat cover on it now looks "less than Pro". It may look alot different with a stitched seam (top and side peices sewed together) around the top rear edge to get rid of the wrinkles around the sides.
That's still one cool ass bike though,
 DG
the seatpan and the foam are the stock ones , the pan was cutup with a plasma cutter , and the foam was shaved with an angle grinder that had a 36 grit sanding disc
i was gonna go with the cycle-x stitched seat , i bet the harley guys in my area would love a sportster seat on my honda  :D (they all hate my bike, and are very vocal about it)

i would lean more to the cycle-x seats because they are so cheap  http://www.cyclexchange.net/Seat%20Page.htm

thanks for all the input guys i really appreciate it

With all that snow and ice, I think you need spikes on the tires!   :)
