MotionPro throttle sleeve info??
« on: December 11, 2007, 05:41:24 PM »
I've been looking around for those MotionPro throttle sleeves that allow for a shorter throw of the wrist , but I'm not finding them.

And when I mean finding them, none of my local moto shops have them.

Besides that, would anybody know, if the linkage at the carbs need replacement for this setup??

I find myself needing higher rpm where I live, and the shorter throw would be a lot easier on the wrist, especially with the
clip-ons.

 Cheers

You can get a part # from MotionPro website and ask any local shop that sells Motion Pro items to order it for you. I don't think they have the 1/2 pull competition throttle but here's the throttle page from their site

I think your right. Thanks for the link!

Well, I guess my last question would be; does anybody know what brand everyone else is using??

Thanks for the help

Cycle-X sent me a short throw throttle with their twin carb setup.
Actually kind of hard to get used to.

Could you elaborate?? Maybe purchasing one is a bad idea.

Did you purchase that for a Honda twin?? I think their linkage is setup differently.....

Is it Cycle-x.com or Cycle-x the brand??   Is there really a specific brand that makes these short throw throttles for SOHC-4's??

Thank you for the help

Loops,
It's cycle-x.com I think--up in Wisconsin.
Not sure what brand.
They use the short throw because they mainly build CB750 SOHC drag bikes--makes sense.
I initially found it hard to get a gradual buildup of rpm's.
Everything came on real fast.
I've gotten more used to it now,
but I would rather have the more conventional throw.

I bought a motion pro throttle tube and cables a few days ago - I'll post some pictures when it shows up.  The cables use stock fittings, but shortened a few inches for clip ons, and the guy on the phone was 95% sure the throttle tube would work - the ends will work, he was concerned about the free length of the cables.

gerhead, does your throttle from cycle-x look like this?

http://www.powersportspro.com/pages/catalogs/viewhotitemdetail/16/628/1590/7923/1/0/1/0/0/0/0/0/turbo-throttle.aspx

or this?

I'm curious as to whether the linkage on the cycle-x carbs give it the short pull, or whether it is the throttle sleeve.
