cb750 dual disc conversion question

Question on getting everything lined up here -

The caliper just bolted to the fork



The caliper spaced out 3mm from the fork (looks correct)



Caliper installed - the spring, and the bolt that goes inside of it is now too short - there's no tension on the spring and the bolt doesnt go through the mount. 



Anyone else had similar issues?

Use a longer 6mm bolt and make one to suit.

Are you not going to move your brake line fitting to the back?

Interesting, I never thought of that.  Does the spacing look correct?

Edit - the bleeder is in the wrong place.

The more I look at this, the more I like the single disc and CL350 fender.  So simple.

Might be an optical illusion but the caliper bracket doesn't look tightly fastened to the fork.

I know that it's been said a few times before (in other posts on the conversion) that since the only one side was used for the brakes at the factory, that unused side received very little attention for brake fit and finish. Basically, I don't find it unusual that you need the spacer as you are the first one to put a brake on the right side of that particular bike.

That one's in the FAQ here :)

I punted last night, took the 2nd disc off and put it back together.  I'll ride it as is and if I feel like I need more brakes then I'll put 'em on.  That 2nd disc adds a lot of weight to the front wheel too!

That article is OK EXCEPT it sez the 500 drive plate fits straight on SORRY IT DON'T 500 and 750 are identical parts! the one that fits is the VERY early 750 that is long obsoleted.
Should any body need them i have pictures of both types alongside each other so you can see how to modify.

You can use the existing larger speedo drives, just take a grinder and pretty much remove the entire outer lip. Mine had a tendency to work itself loose after a while and slip on the rotor, a little dab of JB weld and the speedo never gave me any trouble after that. I had to also use a different variety of spacers to get the front disc to line up correctly, it is a giant pain in the rear to get that second disc to seat just right, too much and it will lock up, too little and it wont brake at all. Good luck, and make sure you have plenty of brake fluid for bleading, would have been a lot easier if I had someone around to help.

Is there a fender like the cl350 that will fit on the cb750 sandcast forks? I really hate the fender braces  :-\

They will look lighter drilled, the second disc can make a huge difference at high speeds.

But they are very very heavy, you could look at lighter discs or two calipers on  one maybe or a 4 piston caliper.. these discs could take a lot of heat...

Would be nice to fit a 4piston from a newer honda sportbike, RC51, CBR, etc.
