Well, seeing as how this has been hijacked beyond all recognition.. :) Did anyone see the History Channel episode where they recovered a P-38 from under 200 ft. of ice in Greenland? What an ordeal, what a mess it was, but damned if this one guy didn't invest in its complete restoration. Topped of by footage of it's flight worthiness test and certification. Always like P-38's.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

...there are a couple of B-17's down there too Bob. I understand they are pretty well crushed...ice movement over the years. The really sad story is the attempted recovery of the B-29 in that same area that was well preserved but caught on fire as they were attempting to fly it out...fuel line came off the apu and the whole plane burned. Last I heard, they were trying to acquire funds to recover the engines which had been rebuilt and installed on the ice...not damaged in the fire and valuable.

I know where there are 4 new P51 Mustang superchargers, still in their boxes, if anyone needs one? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I got to see that plane a couple years ago when it came to the EAA oshkosh show! I got my picture taken with the guy that ran the restoration. And in their tent they were selling small pieces of the original skin. It cost me $20, I think, but what a cool piece of history!

So...uh...yeah...How bout those crazy sancast parts prices?

Maybe those superchargers could be used on those 8000 horsepower dragsters discussed in another thread.  :o

Ha ha, well the superchargers were still in their boxes, but the boxes were bigger than the engine on my 750, so I think they might be a little, er, big?

Hey, my dad is an old Airforce guy, anyway, he's got a small piece of the fabric off Manfred Von Richtofen's (the Red Baron) plane that was shot down in WW1, and a bigger chunk of the fabric off Herman Goering's plane. I should get them framed! Cheers, Terry. ;D
