maybe someone knows
« on: April 08, 2008, 06:03:03 PM »
Hey guys last night I take a run to get some gas. I go to close the gas tank cap and the spring loaded catch breaks. It appears that this part is still available but it looks different on the microfiche.Your help would be appreciated. 71 cb750  THANKS

I believe that original catch was replaced by a locking type. It's an easy replacement.

The two pieces are aluminum. Not sure if I could use jb weld or some other type of epoxy or find something to use to solder them together

Here is what I did..

Try to hold the end of the pin with crisp vise-grips. Then drill the other end till it can slide thru.

No when I get gas, I depress the cap, pull the pin, and hold with your teeth. Then put the gas in, replace pin, push broken latch back, bonk cap down with your hand and it will catch.

Makes it harder for someone to mess with your cap.

You may not get them from Honda now, but they could exist in a dealers inventory.

Having a part # makes it so much easier.. sometimes simply asking about the part by desription will get a , No we would not have that.. and they dont even look..
