Forward Progress

Well, I have finally started getting  the parts I need to do this build in earnest.

I see a lot of people rebuilding engines, (I was waiting to score some carbs), and want to know is a complete engine rebuild necessary?

I know how to clean carbs, those don't scare me.  I have a Vstar 1100 that I have reworked at least 3x.

I know that the engine has compression.  I found this out before I took it down.

Also, I have read where some have redone the electrical as far as igntion/starting goes.

Looking for some friendly advice.

I stumbled upon this...http://www.ratbike.org/ and am in heaven.  I can use a rebuild on the cheap.

Not to worry, I'm not leaving.  I'm having wayyyy too much fun;)
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should;)
