Ha ha, I always love to read the collective "wisdom" of the "K7/8 Defenders society" as they try to re-write Honda's history, it's like gay rights activists, they know they're weird, but they'll fight to the end to defend their right to, well, you guys probably know the rest................ :o

And Eldy, we've had this discussion before, a K7/K8 is not the fastest or best handling of the CB750's, the F2/F3 shares that honor, (although the mighty K0 was almost as quick) and part of the reason that the last engines in the K7/8 were the most reliable, is that they were detuned considerably, and would wheeze down the 1/4 mile like a paraplegic with asthma!

Sure, the F2/F3 had a few mechanical "bugs", but remember, mechanical faults are easily fixed, but "Fugliness" is terminal. Collectable? Yep, every Tuesday night mate, just leave it on your sidewalk and you'll never need to worry about that red-headed step child ever again, ha ha! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Now if I were one to take offense I would point out a few interesting design details about the early CBs, but I am not so I will not say:

I truly love the radiator hoses over the fork tubes, I believe they are the universal types made to bend for different cars.
The color coordinated headlamp mounting ears.
The scooter style handlebars are prescious.
I must admit that thing sticking up at the top of the gas tank icomes in handy when roping cattle or sheep.
The louvers cut into the side covers are a must to reduce the pressure when reaching Mach I. Not to mention the shoulder patch pasted to the cover.

Now if one were to look at a real motorcycle one would see:

Manliness

I love my 78K and I don't see myself ever letting it go. I just wish the side covers and seat were cheaper:)

Take a look at this auction that ended recently:

well sort of Terry...I am drinking at home but am logged in to my work computer...this time of year is busy for me doing reviews on all my technicians (wouldn't they love to hear that I am drinking while typing up their evaluations!?!?)

Actually seeing those bikes so close together I gotta admit that the early models do look a little girly! And that line about the gas cap used for roping sheep was funny too!

The 69 was a groudbreaking style setting motorcycle in a totally different era than the 78.

By the time the 78 rolled out everyone, had a faster, lighter, stylish bike.. it for certain had lost the edge it had held the first 4 years.

Well it's good to see that you're taking your subordinates careers so seriously, ha ha! Be careful though, I tend to be a lot more honest, and a lot less "diplomatic" when I'm drinking!

Bobby's a great bloke, and funny too, but like most K7/8 owners, (and gay rights activists) when it comes to motorcycles, his taste is in his arse, ha ha! ;D

Actually the slowest K's are the 74s. The K8 is right on par with the F1 which is where it draws its engine from, with some improvements and more power of course.

It also is not so wuss like the f2/3 and does not need rebuilding every few times you start it. It also does not dump oil on your leg!

Ahh terry, my taste might be in my arse(unlikely since I think the K0 is ugly) but at least I do not know what a LIVE sheep's rear end tastes like! ;D

Neither Bike is ugly. The model spans a decade and it is inevitable that it would change or attempt to change with the times. Kawasaki went minimailist and gave you a really light frame and powerful engine. In fact my KZ440 and my neighbors KZ900 have an almost identical frame with some bracing, but you can see they are sourced. Terry and I bust balls on each other all the time, all in good fun. If you have a K0 ride it and enjoy it, if you have a K8 ride and enjoy it. If you have the chick in my avatar give me your bike since you will have all you need to ride. :o

Bobby, you left out part of that line...the part about if you have a K8 be proud of it.

Honda's earliest attempt to enrter the Motorcycle market. While the styling borrows heavily from both Mopeds and teapots, the engines have promise. We expect Honda to evolve this experiment into a viable Motorcycle in the 1977-78 timeframe.
