What I traded a 1988 Camry (needs push starting, MI car) for...
« on: December 19, 2007, 08:20:43 PM »
So, a couple weeks ago I got rid of my 'econobeater' used to get me to work and to my gf 30 miles away... it would run with a push start, and with a months-old alternator and battery would randomly not start and the clock would reset.  I guess it was a ground somewhere, but whatever.

I traded it for a 1972 Yamaha XS-650 with a 1980s? front end with a disc brake and just a 'half circle' shaped speedo. No mufflers included but being a cafe racer project comes with a bunch of parts (some new, such as bar end mirrors) and some vintage, such as a mint fuel tank used for the tail body.  It runs and rides, but taillights were removed (as it is a project).  I like how it looks now, with the cafe' bars and white letter rear tire, stock seat, and just enough character.  Kind of like a 'well preserved barn fresh' condition vintage jap bike with a musclecar soul.

So, now I have an angry dad and three motorcycles. ;)

1977 CB550f Super Sport (for sale)
1972 Yamaha XS-650 (for sale, but I wanna ride it at least a couple of times)
2007 Kawi Ninja 650 (looks like a crotch rocket, riding postition a lot like riding a 'standard')

I lost my digital camera, so I bought a new (and better) one that I really couldn't afford right now, but pics coming when I pick up the Yam.

Well if you're worried about what your dad thinks, I'm guessing that you're only young Matt, so no biggie. (Did your dad buy you the Camry? I've got a 1990 model, but I'm 47, and anyway, it was given to me too) Have fun on that Yam mate, and post some pics or this thread will die pronto! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

That IS one decent trade alright! 8) Now, if I could only find a deal like that that I could trade an old 80' Honda Accord 9that needs a paint job, interior redone and some minor repairs.  It really was running when I parked it)for. ::) BTW, it is a 4dr. :-\

                                   Later on, Bill :) ;)
