Being a native North Carolinian I take exception to your comments.

North Carolina was named as the ol North State since it was north of South Carolina.

Our motto is Essa Quam Videri  "To be, rather than to seem".

This was aimed at the two pretentious states on our boarders (at that time there were only two).

North Carolina is a vale of humility between to mountains of conceit. Something North Carolinians have
always been real proud of.  ;D ;D

Also, there is no real barbecue in Kentucky. The only real barbecue is found east of I95 in North Carolina.

Well.  OK.  Shoot.  Closeenough, I guess.
It's been hard to find good BBQ here in the mountains, I have to say.  It's not bad at the Moose Cafe, and 12Bones has been doing big business...
Well, I guess if you like snow, Colorado is a good place to be.  Me- I like the Asheville weather.  60 and clear yesterday.  Today will be upper 50's and the sky is just screaming blue already.  Guess I'll need to take a different bike out today.  Tomorow, the kids will all pile into the sidecar with tinsel and little red balls.  I think I'll put some decorations on the sidecar, too.

No- I don't play the banjo.

i love pulling the "that's not really the south" routine on other southerners, especially ones from "north" carolina (i grew up where they make jack daniels and george dickel in middle tennessee). i told a girl from atlanta the other night she wasn't from the south, as "only a yankee city could generate its own storm system..." she didn't even argue.  ;D

but really, kentucky is only sort of the south.   ;) appalachain, yes. south? ...maybe "southern.".
