Newly purchased '78 K8
« on: December 24, 2007, 02:13:41 pm »
I just got back with the '78 CB750K8. It was in east texas.

Last inspected in '83, it has only 8 thousand miles.

It is missing the brake caliper, side covers, battery, and the instrument panel lens cover. The stock exhaust has a couple rust through spots on the flares.

The tank is clean in and out. No dents but needs a lock on the door.

Nice project.
What are your plans after the god-awful-seat-&-faring removal stage?   ;)

And let me be the first to wish you an only slightly early happy 30th mfg anniversary. 78---The last of a great line.

Yep, I agree about the fairing and seat. I hate K/Q seats.

My buddy (who has a Gold Wing) thinks I should keep the fairing, but it looks too old school for my tastes. Any suggestions for a windshield?

Well if you intend to use it for long distance work, I reckon that the fairing and seat should stay, that seat looks as comfy as you're gonna get, but if it's gonna be a "form over function" cafe project, then "numb bums rule", ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

If you want the protection of a faring without the weight and funky looks,
this could be good option:
Plexifaring made by National Cycle.
Had it on my 82 Honda Silverwing.
