Broken Cylinder Stud
« on: September 13, 2008, 06:21:23 PM »
Hey everyone, I just aquired a 77 cb750 SS from a buddy that had torn it apart and had planned on rebuilding it but didn't have the time.  When I got it, the engine was already taken apart so all I had to do was replace worn parts and put it all back together.

When I was looking at it I noticed that a couple of the studs were rusted and looking in bad shape.  After reading the advice here, I decided to remove the old ones and order some HD's.  Well, most of them came out with a little coaxing except 2.  I have been putting penetrating oil on it for the past couple of days and using heat to try to get it out.  I used 2 wrenches on them to get them "popped" out and turned them the rest of the way out.  These 2 just would not come out, so today I was doing the same as the others, when the stud sheared off at the base.  Now there is not enough to grab on to and I do not know how to get it out.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!
