Cheers Terry :)

Apart from the Mike Rieck head and a megacycle cam (to a spec recommended by Mike) the rest of the engine will be remaining stock for now.  Although it is coming out and heading down to BryanJ's for a rebuild and freshen up along with the transmission :)

According to Hondaman Mark, the stock carbs are more than sufficient to cope with any mods you care to do to the 550 so they will just be getting a rebuild.  Because I'm retaining the side covers, I will be sticking with the stock airbox too, although I may modify it to give better airflow.

Anyway that's allfor now folks, Merry Christmas ;D

and don't stay too sober ;D ;D

Well I definitely didn't stay sober Crispy, you would have been proud of me, I feel like I've been run over by a beer truck!

Now I know you said you weren't going to go any deeper in the engine mate, but this looks like a bargain, another 55cc's of brand new performance parts, and a big bag of "street cred", all for the price of a cheap pair of ladies shoes! ;D

.....one piece oil rings?? ::) They literally "suck". A 3 piece oil ring would do wonders. Is that a Henry Abe kit?? Buzz @ Dynoman and me just had a real interesting talk about him etc. Buzz likes 550's and has a reason too....that's all I say. ;) ;) Maybe he'll find a solution to the lack of GOOD aftermarket pistons.

300 squids? What a bloody rip! No wonder the British bike industry went tits up! It's a pity you don't live closer mate, I've got a boring bar in my garage that could hog those holes out for the smallish price of a big bottle of Makers Mark! (And I promise I won't drink any until I finish your job!) Cheers, Terry. ;D

You just got to brag huh.  ::)  I hate guys that show of the tools they have, when I don't have room for them.  ;)

Ha ha, that's not all mate, that's just one corner of my garage! Oh wait, that IS bragging! :o
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Terry, thats dropping the old liners, boring the block to suit, fitting liners, skimming top, boring the liners to suit the pistons and boring the crankcase to suit the liners so its a fair days work, I recon and when you know that the Ford garage is on £85 per hour and Volo over £100 for routine work the specialist machining aint that bad!

Funnily enough Jonesy they will indeed be looking for a new home, I just need to clean them up and get them photographed ;)

Not sure whether to sell them as a set or individually either yet :-\

Terry, thats what the stealers charge the punters---the spanner man who actualy does the work gets about £10 hour if he is lucky and then pays out:-

£175 per year "Road Tax" to the goverment
£55 for annual safety check
£300+ for a years insurance
and then £5+ per gallon of gas (UK gallon)
Plus the "running" costs

Personally, due to REALLY bad dermatitis, i now drive "heavies", 44tonne (96,000lb) gross artics on permanent nights for £11 hour with NO overtime premium.

Mortgage £800 per month
Local tax £130 per month
Gas £300 per year
Electric £300 per year
Water/sewage £280 per year
food etc for 10 yr old----indescribable!!!

Its why No 36 is still waiting cash and time BUT I will get there!!!

Nuff whinging, Its allowed I'm a Pom,
Lets all have a great new years and lets make it as prosperous and enjojable as we can and keep on helping each other out with parts, info and encoragment.

No progress on the bike today, to busy doing the visiting thing ::)  But I did manage to drop the autocad files for the new rearset brackets off at my mate's house.  He's going to cut them on his work's CNC laser profiler tomorrow for me 8)

Finally got a bit of time to myself today, at long last ::)

So I got busy with the spanners:

The frame and I are off to my mates workshop tomorrow to get the rearset brackets welded on and all the extraneous brackets removed ;D

Then I'm straight off to see the Crusty Demons tour in Manchester 8)
