I didn't take any before shots...
The bike had been oiled and covered and kept dry and put into storage for about 18 years.
The seller wanted it to go to someone who would not "chop" it and would restore it.
There was some elbow grease required to buff up the chrome but overall, the chrome was pretty good!
The seat had to be replaced and I found NOS original.
Pipes were harder to find and finally bought a set from the US that were in good shape but one is not the same number as the other 3.
Still, you have to look close to tell. I might consider replacing them with the aftermarket clones but...I'm not sure.
Someone had replaced the rear wheel with the type that "chopper" people like so it had to be replaced as well.
Tank and side covers are original paint and in pretty good shape.
Any parts I have had to replace were with '72 stock pieces.
The idea of this project was to keep the bike as original as possible so all wiring, ignition,paint and such are stock.
Just have a broken left side cover and it's tough to find a replacement.
Overall, this was not one of those "ground up" restorations but rather a "fell upon it" good luck find that was in good shape to start with.
It's certified and on the road and a pleasure to ride.
The Cafe is another story...
