Dashing through the snow..
« on: December 25, 2007, 10:27:16 AM »
Anybody else besides me get out today?

I couldn't resist, it's in the low 40's and the major roads are clear, although there's all sorts of sand, snow and assorted debris on the sides.  I rode out rt 135 to rt 95 and blasted about 10 miles back and forth. I decided not to use any Stabil in the Suzuki, and felt like I should try to ride it periodically where possible. (I  drain the gas from the carbs and tank in my carburated bikes, but didn't want to stress out the fuel pump by running this bike dry.) Now I'm glad I did so, as it was fun to get out. Aside from hanging with my family, this is a great present way to spend the day! ;D

Are there interesting secondary road rides in the Orlando area? I've ridden in southern Fla., and find it's hard to find a place with any elbow room. I hope it's nicer up your way!

All best,
Ben

There are some nice secondary roads up west of Orlando between Ocala and the gulf. There are also two towns that are listed by the AAA as speed traps.  :o

Man Eldar,

When I think about the sentiment of getting out to ride on xmas day,  in the peace and tranquility of New England, with the wierd feeling of show all around, I would have never thought that it was possible to get to the war in Iraq in one post on this thread.

Thank you for helping me to remember that things could be a lot worse, and confirming my wife's frequent claims that I am a selfish bastard, as well as making me laugh too!  ;D

All best for the New Year, you loon,
Ben

no dashing, but after christmas dinner we headed out to the harley on the trailer and cranked it up in 25 degree weather.  just met the guy that day but, damn he's got a loud hog!

he trailered it from florida to kansas and was also depressed not to ride due to being mudded in somewhere in BFK near claflin.

yes, i think i might still want a harley for one day...

I like Harleys too, but I'm not sure I would want one as my only bike. Come to think of it, I'm not sure any one bike would be satisfying! ;D

I am renting a Harley for one day in Vegas.  I will let you know how it goes.... I plan on getting a ride in hell or highwater this weekend.  My CB has been crying being left out in the snow.  Im gonna spank her a$$ and give her something to REALLY cry about.

Good to see that you are still getting out Ben.  My father asked how you were doing.

Hey Scott,

Which model are you renting? Should be nice and in the 50's in Lost Wages, sounds just lovely to me!
Please pass along my best wishes for the the New Year to Tom and save some for yerself. I'm looking forward to riding with you both come Spring.
Meanwhile it's not going to be shabby here today! I might have to take another blast if I can find a clear route throught the salt, sand, and puddles!

All best,
Ben

An Electra Glide... will ALLLL the bells and whistles... The places also rents out Goldwings.  I am trying to keep myself from just defaulting to the Honda(They seem to be what I am always drawn to)... I might just get the 'Wing and have a nice QUIET smile on my face as I ride it.  ;D

Sounds great! I had a 2000 Electraglide for a year, not the fastest bike, but really a fun, easy bike to ride. I hope you have a blast!!

Thanks Ben,

I just took the CB750 out for a spin yesterday....slowly.  Only a 10 minute jaunt but it was fun nonetheless.  The bike has sat for about 3-4 weeks and STILL started with only 8-10 kicks.... WAAAAHOOOOOO

Sorry I missed this Scott. Yeah, the little hiss I hear when I go for a winter ride is the guilt escaping from me. I feel just terrible watching bikes sit, and feel like they need to be ridden.
Tell me how Lost Wages was!
Best for 2008,
Ben

Rode into work today.  Still about 5" of snow at my house.  Supposed to hit 62F in the afternoon.  Should put about 200 miles on the bike today.... YEEHAH.
