Carburetor Sync tool
« on: December 23, 2007, 05:51:41 am »
Will the motion pro carb adjusting tool the one that I need for my 81 CB650?
Clymer lists two different Honda Part numbers, one for earlier models and another for 81+.
(part number 07908-4600200). However, I can't seem to locate any more info using these numbers.

About the only "model specific" piece of a carb sync tool is the size of the threads on the vacuum port adapter barbs.  If you get both 5mm and 6mm port adapters, you should be covered for many many many bike models.

No real secret to carb sync tools.  They just need to show the relative strength of each vacuum chamber.  Adjust the carbs such that the pull is the same on each carb.  The absolute value of the vacuum is unimportant, they just need to match.

If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Thanks for the reply. I'm afraid that I wasn't too clear. I am looking to buy the motion Pro tool that looks like a long screwdriver inside a hollow shaft if it will work on my 81 CB650. The manual lists a different wrench for the 81 up so I need to know if this will work before I buy one. I already have the vaccum guage setup.  :)

The one I asked about in this thread says it's for Mikuni and Keihin carbs with 8mm hex nut and screw driver slot.

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=29113.0  Do your carbs have 8mm nuts?

Probably. Can't say for sure as they are off in Texas getting overhauled.

Is this what you are looking for?

Don't give up.
It took me a long time to find one this cheap on ebay.

You can find new versions for about $30 plus shipping.

Do a Google search for "tappet adjustment tool".
I found this one on the first try.
