Side covers question
« on: December 26, 2007, 07:26:52 am »
In trying to find side covers for a CB750K8, it occured to me that maybe covers from other year K models might work.

Out of curiosity I tried the ones from a '69, but they weren't close. Were the frames changed over the years, or just the mounting tabs?

What year models share side cover mounting position?

The 77K/78K had the same side covers. Other years won't fit.

If you don't mind aftermarket covers you can pick up a set for about $38 each from JCWhitney.

Interestlingly enough the 77-78F covers will fit the 77-78 K bikes. At least they did on mine.

and yes a 77-78 K Frame as enough differences to it to be considered a completely different frame (at least from the rear of the cradle back).

I do have a pair that would be useable. I think one has a crack in it and I'm not sure about the other one but if you are interested I will hunt them up and look.

Thanks mj_honda! I would have never though to look @ JC Whitney. Those repos would be perfect for my project.

One thing to be aware of with these covers are you will need to drill your own holes for the emblems and the screw on. Not that this is a bad thing because it beats having them blow off when hitting highway speeds.
