We have had good luck with Blurb.  My wife made a book, we had a preview copy in softcover done to check for errors,  then ordered 40 in hardcover.  The pages are a little heavier with the softcover, but the hardcover looks much nicer and more professional.  I look forward to seeing a book of real bikes ridden by real people.

Okay, guys and gals.  The coffee table book has stalled.  I haven't received any additional stories or pictures from the people who said that they would be interested in getting into the book.

I know that everyone is busy with the job of life, so if you find some spare time over the course of a few weeks, write a story about your bike, a trip, a restore, etc. and email it to me.  I would like as many pictures of you and your bike as you can send.  Do not reduce their size, quality, etc.  I need the highest resolution pictures you can provide.  I'll do all of the editing.

My email: aentz@comcast.net

Thanks,
Sparty

Count me in.  I haven't forgotten.  I want my bike running PRIMO & I want an action photo of the running/rolling bike.  I am working on it this weekend, and plan to get action photos of my polished baby soon.  God knows I'm good for my story of how my ride is sentimental to me.

Hef,

That is fine.  Tell us a story about the bike, where you ride, what you think about these old Hondas, etc.  And send lots of pics.

Maybe this thread could be "pinned up" on the forum to keep it in view.

Let's remember to "unpin" it when it's done.  I'm on a Triumph forum where the first page of each board is all stickies!

Thanks to The Great Lumbee, I will be able to get that rolling pic for you.  I will submit a lot of pictures and the story of Cassandra.  You pick from the best...  hopefully the rolling pic of Cassandra in motion will be among the best!  Will be polishing Wed, Thursday & friday.  Plan to get the rolling pics on Saturday.  Will expect my Coffee Table Book on SUNDAY.  LOL!!!

Sounds a great idea.

I'd like to contribute, but probably by now everyones sick of my story since it's been featured elsewhere (see my siggy). I'll see what I can do about pics. I haven't got many recent ones as I've not ridden the old girl for a while but I hope to get her back with me in the next couple of months - probably too late for you though, so I can try to get you some older pics!

Let me know if you would like to feature another version of my bike story - or alternatively I can just put together some other blurb about my bike and about why I like it so much, what I've done to it since I've had it etc.

Loony,

That is a great story and would be perfect for the book.  Just what I am looking for.  Can you get me some high resolution pics as well?

Well I originally wrote them, but I'll check with Real classic website. I'll probably try to rewrite it a bit anyhow as I wrote that article several years ago now and it requires an update.

I was going to suggest a re-write just to be sure that all will be oaky.

Not sure about the copyright laws there, but here, she wrote them, she owns them, right? ???

'Fraid not Bob...    >:(

They published them - they own them!

I've been trying to get permission from Classic & Motorcycle Mechanics to use the road tests that they published on my CBX550, GS850 and K100RS. They don't want to know.

When I write articles for scientific journals I have to sign a copyright transfer form to transfer the copyright to the journal before they publish the article, even with european/UK journals. I never signed a copyright transfer form for that article, but I will check with them and say I'm going to rewrite it anyway.

The publishing date for the book has been pushed back because so many people would like to be in it and they are still either working on their rides and trying to find time to write a good story.  Send me your stuff as you please.

Stories can be varied - trips, restos, fictional tales, etc.  Photos must be high resolution, and send as many as you can so that I can pick and choose the best ones.

June was the deadline, now it is looking like August.

I emailed Realclassic and they said it's fine to use my story as I please. The copyright notifications on their website are to protect the authors as much as themselves.

I would like to rewrite the story and bring it up to date. I'll have a go over the next couple of weeks. I'll send you some photos with the story and then when I get my bike back, if it's before your deadline, I'll try and get some newer pics then.

I'm just having a look at my story now... how long do you want the text?? The story was already quite long and as I'm adding in some updated info, it's just got longer.... I may have to do some serious editing as I think it's far to long for a coffee table book... unless people want to sleep that is!

Don't worry about it being too long.  A good story is a good story.  I can make the book as many pages as I want to.  I am actually looking for stories that have some length.
