UK 'Newbie'
« on: December 27, 2007, 10:54:41 AM »
Thought I should introduce myself, as is the norm I have been lurking in the background for a few weeks watching you all.

I've had the idea of building a cafe racer for a few years, a mate suggested I buy a cb550, 4 days later I owned most of one, 1 week later he got one as well. I bought a 1973 k0(?) missing front fork legs and rear wheel. As I have no forks I may stick a modern front end on it, that looks like a good crack. Gonna keep spoked wheels, I like the classic look. I'll make a fibre glass seat and fit some modern rearsets with lower bars (ace or clipons).

Had a few bikes over the years, bought a cagiva 125 to learn on, then had a thundercat after I passed my test - great bike. Sold that when we had kids. Restored 3 Vespas, ending up with a PX200 with 210cc tuned engine. So as you can imagine this is a steep learning curve, be gentle with me.

Half Scottish, born and bread in England. A plastic jock is someone that pretends to be one.
