For those that have ordered from David Sliver Spares in the US. Did any of you have to pay dutys? or VATs? By the way what even is value added tax?

It's just sales tax men, you pay it in the US as part of the price, the sales tax is already included.

The reason this comes up with DSS is that they don't charge international customers sales tax, (VAT) and it's up to your country to charge you import duty when it hits your shores.

I used to get slugged for it whenever I bought something from DSS, they still use those thieves UPS to ship their stuff and UPS intentionally walked everything through Aussie Customs so that UPS could charge me "extra charges", the turds, so I'd cop the UPS delivery fee, Aussie import duty, AND an extra charge from UPS for walking it thru! Asssholes!!

So I instructed DSS to just send via Britains mail system, and surprise surprise, it was quicker, cost less than half UPS' rip off fees, and NO import duty! As it is, our government has relaxed the import duty thing now, they don't hit us up for sales of less than 1000 bucks, so no biggie now. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I had the same issue with UPS running the DSS stuff through customs here in the US. They pay the customs fee as a "favor"  >:( and then send you a bill...after your stuff arrives.  FedEx doesn't...at least not the stuff I've ordered.

also here in the UK we pay VAT(tax) on tax, petrol (gasoline) has a fuel tax to which VAT is added.
A good thing about the US is you can go to another Town/State to do your shopping where the tax is lower. I think it was at Ikea near Newark(NJ) airport, it's a long story don't ask, where the sales tax rate was near zero because the site was on a development area.

Yeah, you're right there mate, when I was in Britain back in 1974 I was amazed at all the Brit's who'd go over the channel to France, just to do their grocery shopping? Of course, If I traveled the same distance as it is from say, London to Paris, I'd still be in my home state!

The good news is, that after a "stuff up" by my local post office caused a delay in my receiving my DSS parcel, my shiny new OEM K0 HM300 replacement baffles have arrived! I was gonna try to make some for my K2, but for the price, I think I'll just go OEM, at least I'll know they'll work, ha ha! Cheers, Terry.  ;D
