Oh I don't know Dusty, if you melted down a K7/K8, it'd probably make a reasonable teapot? It'd still only have the "collectability" of my old underpants, though! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

awfully chatty this Season.
There must be some gifts for loved ones that require more attention than this.

We will all burn our 78 Bikes.....Happy now Terry?

Ha ha, the gifts are all done Derek, and it's raining outside (Great News!) so plenty of time to take the pisss out of you K8 defenders! Why would you want to burn it though, don't you like it anymore, now that you've got a "real" CB750?  ;D

WOW the stench of terry's jealousy is almost too think to see through! Clearly honda perfected the 78 bikes. You can tell this since they realized that they could get no better and had to design something completely new to tinker with. Everyone thinks about the K0 because to it the equivalent to one of "Jerry's kids" and everyone feels sorry for them! Maybe the should be "Terry's kids"! What is really sad is that anything between 71-76 almost had to be pushed to make it to 10 mph! Honda clearly knew they had work to do and thus came the 77, while close it was not quite perfect. Then came the miracle machine that everyone secretly wishes they could have, even all them hardley riders, The Pure Perfect 78K.

Over my 30 years in the Army, I've met a lot of guys who know nothing about nothing, but can talk about it all day.

It hurt my brain to listen to them sometimes, but quite often, I had no choice. I like Eldy, he's a great guy, and I know his heart is in the right place, but when I read his defensive K8 posts, my brain starts to hurt all over again............ ;D

I am in Fla and have been a bit behind this love. I spent the afternoon in a real old school bike shop and was looking at some old magazines from the 70's. In looking at the Honda ads the K0 had some smiley guy riding along. Real clean cut and such. Honda was still stuck in this nice people thing. I think they went out of their way to make the early CBs look cute. Later, they changed the styling and made the bikes look more aggressive. Even the Ads changed and the chicks looked like they may have shagged without benefit of Clergy.
This is a silly argument. We are talking about bikes that are 10 years apart. I am sure when they changed the Vegemite label there were those that thought the old label tasted better. Having eaten Vegemite twice, I would agree the label tastes better than the stuff inside. I am borrowing a wi fi connection outside a shopping center at the moment. I must sign off before the cops come around. Hope you al had a Merry Xmas.

Is that illegal Bobby? I wondered why those dicks at McDonalds kept asking me if I was gonna order? Ha ha, don't anybody take me seriously though, I'm just having fun with y'all, it's 34 deg C outside (93 deg F) at 7.00 pm as I type this, and as much as I want to fit my new K0 exhaust baffles, I may just stay here and keep drinking! ;D

Well I just got back before it snows here again. No I guess it is not illegal per se. However I was sitting in the parking lot in which all of the the stores were closed. I was not looking forward to explaining to a Deputy Sheriff what I was doing in the parking lot tapping into a wireless connection. I did not need a night in the local lockup.
Sorry to here it is 93 non French Degrees there. I can send you a bucket of cold. When I got in the car yesterday morning it was 75F, when I got out this morning in my driveway it was 20F. Shriveled the pod a bit.

Back to the issue of your aluminum Goldwing rims..

Don't know exactly about those particular rims.  But when I visited Motegi/Honda restoration facilities in Japan..they painted everything that was aluminum (cases, heads, rims, fork tubes, etc.).  Only things not painted (but even then) were polished parts..like alternator, primary-clutch covers.

I didn't think it all looked as original as I remembered bikes new..but could see where they didn't want to spend all that time cleaning, repolishing old aluminum..and it looked better than old oxidized aluminum.  So..since then..I've kinda felt that if it's good enough for Honda..then can't be all that bad for restorations..if you don't want to disassemble, clean, repolish all that old aluminum, chrome.

I guess the rims are anodized as eurban stated earlier in the post.  A good friend has a home powder coat unit, he said he has a coating called almost chrome that he can match pretty good.  I will probably go that direction.  I thought they way the post was going was more interesting than the original question.  But my questions have been answered.
