Misc help please.
« on: July 17, 2008, 09:41:02 am »
I have a '78 CB750 and need some help putting it back together.  Not real help, just advice from those who have one assembled.

1.  I need a new front caliper.  Are there any other models that will fit my bike (cb550 or similar vintage Honda's)?

2.  Some how I have lost the nuts that hold the bottom axle (peice) to the bottom of the forks.  Does anyone know what size/grade those are?

3.  I have also mis-placed the bolts that clamp the forks through the lower triple tree.  What size/grade do those need to be?

4. Beside this forum, where is a good place to find the parts that I am missing?

Cheers!

I have a 78 cb750 parts bike I might be able to sell you the front caliper.

I don't remember who it is but a member of the forum sells a complete front end bolt kit in stainless steel. I bought one but I haven't installed it yet.

there are tons of sights you can buy parts from. Here are a few:
http://www.bikebandit.com/http://www.bikebandit.com/
http://www.m3racing.com/products/parts.html
http://www.z1enterprises.com/

Then there is always Ebay.

There are lots of seller feedback lists in here under good folks...that would be a good place to star in terms of looking for suppliers as well.

a source i use to find parts that interchange between years is bikebandit.com

you can find parts you need using the "parts wanted" section on this site

also look in bikebandit.com for the nuts sizes and bolt sizes you need.

i have four axle nuts if you need 'em, from a parts bike.  just let me know your address.  if i wasn't selling the triple trees, you could have the bolts too.

Bob,

I found the size on line.  They're 8mm.  I can go to the local nut/bolt shop and make sure I get the right grade.  If you could measue the lower triple tree bolt and tell me that, I would appreciate it a lot!
