DOHC 750 fork oil volume.
« on: January 03, 2008, 03:22:11 PM »
I'm ready to replace the fork seals on my brothers '79 750K. Anyone know offhand how much fork oil the legs hold?

Cant get at my manuals at the moment but a good starting point would be same as 78 F3
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

It should be 5oz of ATF or whatever you want to use.

Set oil level instead of quantity, its easier to make adjustments.
For fork re-build (from 'dry') its between 172.5cc to 177.5cc ( CB900 175cc) ATF
 For oil change, 155cc.
Check oil level with springs out, forks compressed and make sure its he same in both legs (probably around 5.5"~6.5")
If you want forks stiffer at 3/4+ travel, increase oil level about 1/2"~1"
