Well, Auction won. Item paid for. now I'll just have to wait 10-15 days to get it shipped from Austria.
Around $90 US isn't too bad for them, I figure.
I'll keep you posted.
Did you get those Rear Sets to fit?

Not yet. The project has kind of fallen by the way-side at the moment. Having the bikes all covered and huddled together in the garage doesn't help much. :( I need to find an afternoon to go down and play with my Dad in the machine shop he works in. Got a couple of projects waiting for that, actually...

The one problem no one seems to mention is the loss of leverage on the rear brake, the original brake lever was nearly a foot long, compared to the six inches or so of leverage you get from using rearset levers.  I took the huge return spring out of the brake but it still needs a good bit of pressure to really bite on the disk.

A bunch of fiddling with the brake linkage. Your brake pedal and link look to be parallel now, I would start by removing the link and replace it on the splines so that the levers are closer together than parallel, like a tooth or so. Of course, you will have to shorten the connecting rod. See what that does in comparison to what it does now and it will give you an indication of if you are heading in the right direction or not.
Just shortening the connecting rod would mess up where the pedal sits at rest. If you just shortened the connecting rod and then lengthened the master cylinder rod to compensate for it, it would make the brake harder to work.
It looks like the brake pedal is indexed (looks like the lever and pedal can be rotated in relation to each other) and the lever on the splines can also be rotated. Thats 2 points of adjustment so far, and the master cylinder rod can also be adjusted, so thats another point of adjustment.

By adjusting the levers (all 3- the 2 outers and the length of the master cylinder rod) you can usually regain some leverage. If it starts to lock up too easily replace the spring (I would replace the spring anyhow)
It will take some fiddling with the levers, connecting rod and master cylinder rod, but it can usually be done.
  Good luck,
 DG

Good tip - thanks I'll give it a try.

Sure you could do something with them?  Its the shifter and brake lever ends that are different?  I cut the old levers off the spline fittings,  and braized a piece of steel onto the end with a hole for the linkage on the end.

Shifter end is wrong as is the brake end :P

Are the splines different Derek? I had that problem with Sean's rear sets and made a shifter linkage end out of a Honda shifter pedal that I reshaped. Cheers, Terry.  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

splines on shifter are correct, but the the end piece it too wide.

Brake is just wrong.

I just bought an old bolt on Rassk set from someone here on the forum.  I may just use them on the K8 or try and use some of the parts on them for the Tracy.  The photos of them just don't look like something I want to use on this new build, but we will see. ;D They are at least the same brand.
