how do i fit someone on the back of my cb750 cafe racer?
« on: January 03, 2008, 08:02:38 PM »
its a 1974 cb750. i did not put the rear sets on, the previous owner did. but it looks like he used the passenger pegs. is that how they are usually done?

so i will need a new seat...ill probably just buy the plain old stock one.
but where will the passenger put their feet (now that MY feet are on them)?

thanks for the help

My wife would wrap her legs around mine and shift on the front pegs while I used the rear pegs, on long trips... ;D

Looks like you've got 3 choices mate:
1. Re-fit the OEM rider and passenger pegs,
2. Make some bigger (read uglier) brackets so you can mount both the rearsets and some passenger pegs, or
3. Don't take any passengers.

Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

cafe bikes are solo rides anyway.....+1 for don't take any passengers.

a 4th choice is to buy a set of tarozzi or raask rearsets which don't use the passenger peg mounts and sit further up.

if you want to go back to stock pegs I have a set kicking around and I'll trade you for your rearsets.

+100.  You beat me to it.

Another option is to have her sit on the tank & face you.

Also agree that cafe's are typically meant to be solo bikes.

if they go through the passenger pegs, then they are at least at some point homemade. Univerisal Tarozzis or raasks new will cost you about $130-$140 and they can mount through the passenger peg hole. Used 90's sportbike rearsets (liek FZR or cbr) cost even less, so it isn't like I am not being fair.

besides, I am 6'5" - the passenger pegs are the perfect rearset mount for me and I don't carry passengers on cafe bikes (and why I have a stock euro riding position setup on my 2 up K5). One of the reasons I don't carry passengers on cafe bikes is the passengers complain too much about leaning forward with an otherwise upright foot peg position. Good for 5 -10 minutes at a time but be ready for the "my back hurts" at every gas stop if you plan on putting in a days riding (and after about 30 minutes they usually put their full weight on your back anyway).

That's OK Art, send it anyway, my Dad is in hospital in Los Angeles (just had surgery on his prostate, so much for THAT vacation) and I'm trying to convince him to smuggle some additional Makers Mark (over and above the duty free limit) home in colostomy bags, figuring that both US and Aussie Customs wouldn't be keen to take them off him? So when he gets home, I'll need something to decant it back into? Or I guess I could have fun just drinking it straight out of a colostomy bag.................  ;D

Hope your dad is doing well.  My father had the same procedure a few years ago, but he doesn't need a bag.  Somehow, I think pee and poop will ruin the taste of that fine drink.  However that does give new meaning to the term "shiitfaced". ;D

Or "pissed", as we refer to being drunk here in Oz.............. No, Dad won't NEED a CB (that's colostomy bag, not a Honda bike, although i've heard Harley Riders calling our bikes names like that) but I figure that if I was a customs officer, the last thing I'd want to take off an 81 year old man is his CB, ha ha!  ;D
