A mighty tree has fallen...Sir Edmund Hillary
« on: January 11, 2008, 01:49:19 AM »
The first man to conquer Mt Everest, with the help of sherpa Tenzing Norgay in 1953. Antarctic explorer. Man amongst men. He raised funds and opened 63 hospitals in Nepal. Modest and unassuming. The first living New Zealander to have his image printed on our currency. He epitomised Kiwi manhood and set the bar for all of us to follow in terms of integrity and what it means to be a New Zealander. Unfortunately, I have many and various flaws but at least I have a role model at least to aspire to.

And what a dry commedian. After addressing a hall full of adventurers at Scott Base in Antactica in his 87th year, the OIC asked "How do you think that went?" to which he replied, " "Not too bad, I think half the (Antarctic) continent was in there"

That "chick", as you call her, is my girlfriend so please show some respect.

Here is some more of her. Please note the lyrics in French:  "I really love you T-C, I want to have your ba-by etc, etc"

I'm not sure if Sir Ed would approve but I hope that he would.

Getting up there is one thing, getting back down was the trick. Sir Edmund got back down.

Well if Sir Edmund was a tree TC, he's certainly "rooted" now! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
