New member with CB350F
« on: January 08, 2008, 11:34:24 PM »
I just purchased an all-original unrunning red '73 CB350F with 14k miles.  She has a matching Windammer full ferring, plus a Bates(?) rack and sissybar.  New silencers are needed as they are completely rusted through where they meet the head pipes under the tranny.  In addition to a full tune-up, cable lubing, brake flush, tank and carb cleaining - she needs major detailing, new tires/tubes, a battery and possibly a chain.  As you can tell she's kinda rough, but I trust she'll come back to life easily with the help of a few dead presidents.  Any tips, tricks, or resources for my CB350F would be most appreciated. Oh yes, thanks for being here! :)

+1, And Welcome from Canada.

Don't throw away those old rusted out pipes like my PO did. If I had a set I would rebuild and rechrome them; considering that the stock 4-4 systems are nearly imposible to find. Or if you do, there usually about $1000 to $1500 a set.

That's my first advice, the rest you'll find in here somewhere  :D :D

Thanks for the welcome!   8)

Everythings apart and the compression checked out good today, I've got a hot spark too, so I'm planning to order new mufflers.  I like the MIVV pipes because they offer the original romance of the SOHC4 (i.e.,  4 into 4 design) and I want to esperience the "sound of silence" they used to write about when these were new.  :)

Has anyone posted a thread about how to do successfully do this task?  It certanly would be a good business to get into with all of the ratty CB350F pipes floating about. ;)

Earlier received a call from my mechanic who called to let me hear him start my fine CB350F while I was on the phone.  Man it was loud with no silencers (they broke in half at the down-tubes when removed), but idling nicely (read: burbling) on all 4.  Dormant for 20 years and Lazarus lives again, yahoo!   ;D ;D ;D

Can't wait to get my exhaust system delivered next week and installed next weekend. I'll try to snap some more pics this weekend.
