Topic: Registry of Original Owner Bikes

It has been suggested to start a registry of SOHC owners who have owned their bikes since leaving the showroom. I purchased my CB550 new in Montebello, CA on June 9, 1974 and I've had it ever since. After several lengthy periods when the bike "slept" I did a pretty complete restoration last year. The cherry on the top came when I discovered that a new run of OEM 4 into 4 pipes had been produced by Honda after they had been unavailable in the mid-90's. The bike is now restored to virtually 100% stock.
Anybody else who is an original owner, strut your stuff here.

I purchased my CB750 K4 in Sept of 1974.  I installed a black Windjammer fairing with Honda stripes in 1975.  And the seat and saddle bags were installed in 1977.
I removed the fairing last fall just to try it out.  I liked it.  I may re-install it at some time, so the frame is still on the bike.
At times, I consider selling it.  But, my daughter says that it is her inheritance.   (Along with my Piper Cub)

Thanks to CoachDoc for starting this thread. 

I bought my 76 550K in July 76 from a dealer in Macon Ga.  Immediately put a Zoom 4-1 on it and told the guy at the bikeshop to keep the stock pipes.  Yep...I was a  Bonehead 17 year old.

Put 8000 miles on it back in the day and...for some reason I really don't recall, stuck it in the basement.  I moved it to three different basements before decided (about 3 years ago) to get it running.

New exhaust, tires, battery, cables and a carb re-build later..got 16,000 miles on it and it runs like a new one.  Somehow the tank stayed perfect...got lucky with that.  O yea.....chain and sprockets too.

The before pic is what I looked at and thought.......hmmmmm...wonder what it would take??

I will say that gettin it back on the road would have never happened if I had not found this forum.

Bill, what an awesome before and after photo set. Truly amazing transformation. Loved the story about those original pipes- OUCH. How's it running now? It looks stunning....nice work.

She runs as good now as ever (knocks on wood).  Probably better on the road thanks to new tire technology compared to the old 70's Bridgestones.   The North Ga. SOHC4 gang have 3 or 4 road trips already planned for this coming year.

Add me to the list, although the bike was a while before it left the showroom due to a war temporaily
affecting sales, I bought it in cyprus in 1976 I have not ever bothered to find out what year it was
I took it apart in 1980 to clean it up and its never gone back together, although I did have the engine
checked out last year and its like new inside, so I have to restore the chassis, I have another one
which I will use for spares,

We're going to add me to this list.  This is my girlfriends fathers bike. Purchased when brand new.  1977 Honda CB750A. I am now in the process of resurrecting the bike from the dead as it has been sitting in his garage for the past 26 years.  Yes, that's right it hasn't been on the road since 1991. The scoot currently has 29k on the odometer.  This was his baby and I am going to get it running and safe so he can take it for a ride again despite not being in the best of health. At that point the bike becomes mine and will never leave my ownership.

Purchased my first bike in 1974 from Davis Honda in St. Clair Shores, MI, CB400F, dark blue. Rode the heck outta that all across the US. Loved that bike.. It flew out of my trailer when it flipped on the way to Denver . Still in my garage and may not be resurrected for some time. Bought my 76 550F (that beautiful turquoise metallic) from Anderson Honda in Pontiac, MI and rode that one for several years till I dumped it doing something stupid. It is now a doner for my 74 CB550K I purchased for $500 from a dude who needed the dough. It was already kinda ratty but it rode fine. I have been doing a father and (22 year old) son resto on it for over a year and will post some pics real soon. My last purchase was a 1985 VF700F (red) from Anderson again. Not an SOHC but a real beauty and I have ridden it across the US, and Canada up into Newfoundland and parts around there. It's been siting for 23 years but is in better shape than my 550 was and should be on the toad this year yet.. Deal is that my son will help me with it when his is road ready. The 550 is his first bike.  Pretty excited to go on the first touring ride with him.

 I'm storing my brothers bought new K4 750, he worked at Grand Motor Sales here in Galesburg and traded in his cl? 450. He later went to work at the Kawasaki shop and the owner couldn't let him park a Honda out front, so he got a Kawasaki shop bike to ride back and forth to work. That kept the miles off of the 750, it had a hooker header for years and now has a 4-2 Jardine set. I put a NOS seat on it for him, he took off the windjammer but keeps talking about putting it back on.  I think this is the summer to get it running again. He's going to be 82 this year and has stopped riding, he since bought a cb500 with a sidecar but isn't a fan of it.
 At some point he traded tins with another 750 guy and it is Sunrise orange flake now.
