Thanks for the compliment.  I don't have issues with the controls hitting the tank.  I did have an issue with the brake line pinching between the tach and the bars though.  I had to rotate the brake lever up a little.  It works but it's not quite ideal, so I'll be either relocating or removing the tach to make a little room until I decide exactly what i want to do.  I may move the starter button and high beam switch somewhere else and get a different lever so i can keep both gauges.  I'm not sure yet.  Thanks again for the compliment.

Here's my "74"CB550. Got it for $160.00 5 years ago. I actually thought I had payed too much, however it was a rusty clunker. Should have taken pictures then, was'nt thinking at the time. also did'nt realize how sought after these bikes are. This year the wife and I are gonna try sportin some extra baggage, (For getting groceries , going to the beach & tooling around town) on account of gas prices .Does'nt that bike look ugly now? We'll see how it works out.

....and heres the one I built for my son. He's 14 so he'll just have to watch for a couple of years. He's in the training program right now(dirtbike) learning how to fall down and how not to crossthread a nut & bolt. Soon he'll be ready for a course in patience and polishing.
By the way ,did you know that there is a nifty little screw on this model bike that governs the wide open throttle? Not everyone knows this

I believe they have Jardine stamped on the mounts. They've been cut about 8 or 10 inches shorter cuz of rust&holes at the ends and also re-baffled.

I have 2 1974 CB550's.  One is my daily driver and the other is a project bike.

My project.  Right now it is in 3 boxes in the basement.    Every time I get ready to wrench on it, I get distracted with another project.

LOL!  That's my sister's 550.  She picked it up from a guy that wanted to make a chopper out of it.  Hack job is more like it (you should see the cuts he had in the frame  ), but my sister HAD to have it.  The rear fender is off a Harley and it reminded her of Dad's bike. 

I have an extra frame that I plan to swap everything over to once she comes around.  You can't tell my sister she is wrong, you have to wait till she tells you.  And when she does, I'll have everything set aside so we can get the bike in safe running condition.
