Just got enough of this bike sorted to ride comfortably.  Still looking for a stock-like exhaust (somebody put a straight pipe on it and that's too loud for my taste, plus performs badly).

Nice looking bike, Blake. I had the same problem when I got mine.....no muffler. With the help of a pipe adapter from an auto parts store, I was able to put a HD Sportster muffler on mine. Total investment-$15.00. Sounds and looks good too.

Get the serial number off your frame and engine.  Use the Model Guide on the home page here or just post the first 6 or 7 digits here and we can tell ya.  There may also be a model plate on the steering neck.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Paul - is that the pipe you reference on your avatar pic?  Pretty decent looking.  My mechanic is pushing me to buy something performance-focused - like I need to go any faster :)

Good to see another Super Sport owner in western PA.

Very nice/clean looking 78. I like the choice of exhaust and those rims look clean too. Nice find.

Here is my 74 550 K0.  21,000 original miles, I cut down the front fender and powder coated it and the rear, painted the tank and side covers Honda Element Blue, lots of new parts and elbow grease, oh and just put in a Dyna s electronic ignition.

I suppose I should register, even though the bike is For Sale.

Here's my 77 CB550F Super Sport.

I have owned it for eighteen years.

Before and after.
My name is Joe and i have been riding motorcycles since i was 18. Two years ago i had some engine trouble with my 79' Malibu and my friend VwDan (yes, the same from this forum) loaned me his cb450 for a week. I fell in love with the bike and picked up a sweet 77' cb550. The end. Ride safe!

The muffler is a MAC megaphone. It sounds great, no need for any tuning at all either. I did however cut the baffle out to make it alittle louder. It runs and sounds great.

Here's my 73 CB500.

It runs but not well. It sat for about 4 years before I bought it. I'm going to be pulling the carbs to clean them this week.

Pirateonjerseyshore, I really like that tail light.  You pick it up local or off internet?
