Mine is a '75 550 F German model
VIN: CB550F1016625, known P/Os: 4
Bought in May 2009, 30,000km/18,700miles in pretty good condition. Many minor parts like rubbers, bolts and plastic parts replaced, others restored. Tank decals chipped on the top. I have a second tank that I will have painted and keep the one with the factory paint.
Who do I have to kill to get NOS headers and muffler? :D

Hands down, has to be the best paint scheme Honda came up with for the 550's through the years. Flake orange a close second.
1974 CB550

32 days and 5,536 miles on a CB550...

http://kerncountykid.blogspot.com/

and a couple years later, 38 days and 9,102 miles...

Forever West

... and all of it in a 4 mintue video

Ya, I picked her up from an old harley guy who had her sitting in his garage for years and years.  He was the second owner.  He posted it on C.L. without a picture or a price just a number.  I drove out to sacramento to see it in person and was blown away, bought it for 1,700. It needed a new air filter, (had the original one still in it), i cleaned the carbs, replaced the fuel lines, de-rusted the tank, and polished the hell out of her.  The bike is all original, and she is so pretty i am going to keep her stock.  Runs like a champ, can't wait for these storms to ease off.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who posts on here, you have helped me gain so much knowledge, and you make me feel comfortable about working on my bike myself.  I am very appreciative.

Thanks

What color is that? Black or a really dark blue? Looks like a great job on the paint either way.. Very shiny!

It shows, thats a great paint job. If you get time start a build thread and post some of the assembly and pictures/videos there..I for one would like to follow it..

Welcome TR it looks like a great start. I really like that front fender. You are on the right site. Don't forget a build thread even if its just a mild build because its a good way to document what you have done for later...

Looks MINTY there Turtle!!  Got more pics?  Welcome to the club!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Welcome!!!

Very nice cleanup there.. I love that color, if I could have painted that color in my garage, my bike would be that color and not what I am painting it.

I bought it last September it hadn't been on the road since 1999 hence the old tax disc. Was complete and original but needed quite a lot spending on it. All stock except the seat, tried a new copy but it wasn't a good fit so stuck with the original one, which has grown on me after repainting the base, fitting new rubber mounts and new foam.
