Wow! That's some smokin deal.
Best I've heard of so far.

Cheers

+1 I agree,

You will probably need to clean out the carbs.. Check the timing and if you have spark, put some new gas in it and see if she pop's. Also want to check to make sure the gas flows from the tank. If it were me, I would also replace the points just for good measure..

Thanks Bwatson! I'm new to the forum. I've had the bike for about 8 years. Want to give her a face lift but I'm not sure what I want to do. When I get started I will keep you all up dated.

Here's my 73 CB500 (the PO's yard, not mine!)

It's been sitting in a barn for the past 16 years and only has 8,000 on the odometer. Water got into the tank and carbs so I've got some serious cleaning to do. There's some wiring issues and I still have to test the compression but I think I have a potentially awesome project. No, you can't have my Kerker.  :D
I traded this gun for it and a seized 71 CB350:
I mention the pistol because, I started with a $60 camp axe and made several trades until I ended up with the pistol. I guess only have about $60 into the 2 bikes!  ;D

Here is mine guys it is a  75 cb550f      Anyone else in Georgia?

Question on the frame it says 74 manufacturing date but PO said its a 75 and so does my title lol  any help on that?

Only thing I have added is Clubman Bars.
Led front lights (need a relay it is in the mail).
I have a huge racing seat but I think it may be a little over the top what you guys think?
I had a piston seize but thanks to Marvel Mystery oil and google its running again.

I had Reg/Rectifier problems but I went with new parts from oregonmotorcycleparts.com   Tony is a huge help!
I was stranded a few times but that seems to be fixed now and I will continue with cosmetic things.

Welcome to the forum!  Back in the day, many DMV's would title a new bike by the date of sale, not the date of manufacture.  You may want to compare your VIN number with the model guide on the home page of this site so you know what year Honda thinks it is.  Helps when ordering parts.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

just do all your normal maint. oil change, plugs, chain... if it sat that long you'll probably have to go into the carbs... hopefully the tank didnt sit empty.. rust in the tubes, im guessing means its leaked out all the fork oil. fork seals arent that bad. you can do a search on about anything here and find the answer.

looks like you got a steal
welcome to the forum and good luck

Ho do you like the drag pipes? Any chance you have video/Audio of them? I am toying with the idea of putting some on my 550 but I sure would like to hear them first..

Hey Scott I got a video.

it is a short vid hope the audio is somewhat decent to hear the pipes.

...put a new Kuryakyn Battery LED gauge this thing is sweet battery was not topped off in the video it does go to green when I am riding.  Cool thing is when you get too much voltage it tells you that to.

Hi all,

I am new here.  My son (17) picked up a 73 CB500 about a month ago.  He plans to get it running for this summer then do a full restore over the winter.  We plan to put it back to stock as much as possible to include the metal flake orange paint job.  The bike was a one owner bike we picked up from a friend.  The bike was bought and rode in California and brought back to Wisconsin where it sat in a garage until now.  The motor turns over and the bike seems to be all there except for the exhaust was changed out after it rusted out.  The paint is badly faded on the top and it has a lot of surface rust.  The seat top is gone and the top layer of seat foam is deteriorated.

The carbs are cleaned and rebuilt, we have blinkers, better fender, new battery, oil and filter.  We hope to see if the motor runs this week.

We restored a 66 CB77 a few years ago.  We also did a minor restoration (mostly paint and tires) on a Yamaha Seca 650 that I hand since it was new.

I found this site to be a great resource and hope to share any experiences or tips we pick up on the way.  I have attached a few pictures of the bike when we got it.  I will post more as we make some progress.
